A Wolves point of view

A Wolves point of view

Akela - from Vital Wolves answers some questions ahead of the Wolves v Pompey game this weekend.

Early days I know, but are you happy with how your season is going so far?
It changes on a weekly basis at the moment! Wasn't happy with the defeat to Blackburn, but then once we picked up the result against Fulham I was satisfied.

The Sunderland defeat though is difficult, I would have took a draw before the game and after going down 2-0 to get back level we really should have got something from the game. Instead we went on to concede another 3, so that is very frustrating to say the least!

Spanked 5-2 at Sunderland last time out, was that a fair reflection of the game?
I'm obviously going to say no to that! At 2-2 with the momentum on our side, we should really have been the ones to go on and either win the game or take a share of the spoils.

Are the club treating the fans well, or are they fleecing you?
We certainly got fleeced at Manchester United! £41 a ticket in the Carling Cup, when it on Sky!

Who do you think has been your best summer signing and why?
My early favourite was Milijas, but he has recently been dropped by McCarthy and didn't make it onto the pitch against Sunderland. I think we still have a lot more to see from him and another who will only improve will be Kevin Doyle who has had an injury since joining us and is now getting better and better with every game.

Could you have done with more arrivals - if so in which areas and maybe even who?
We did well over the summer and too many signings will always leave the side a little disjointed as they settle into their new side or in some of the players cases a new country.

I would like to have seen more experience I have to admit, we are a relatively young side and in defence I feel we could have done with some Premier League know how.

What are you expectations, or hopes for this season?
Avoiding the drop, it is the only thing that matters and I feel we have enough to do that.

What about Pompey, what do you think we should expect or hope for?
I'd expect to see a return to the Championship with the way things are going for you.

Who is the real danger man that Pompey need to watch?
When fully fit Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, however this game is likely to be too soon for him to be firing on all cylinders so probably Kevin Doyle.

If you could take any Pompey player and put him in your squad who would it be and why?
You've had a big clear out recently, many of whom I'd have been happy to snap up. Now I'm not so certain as not many have had the opportunity to impress so far this season.

Could we have Kanu, but the one from a few years ago?

Is there anyone that you would like to send Pompey's way?
No, I think everyone in our side at the moment has a role, be it first team, as back up, or developing players with potential.

If we strengthened then a few names would spring to mind!

Wolverhampton has a reputation as being a little 'unwelcoming'. Are there any pubs within walking distance of the ground where Pompey fans are welcomed?
Not really, most pubs are all home only. Keep your colours covered and go into town is probably the best bet.

Go on, who's going to win the battle of the 'relegation certainties?'
I feel confident with your current form and think we'll win it by two, however my confidence has sadly been very misguided so far this season, usually resulting in a defeat!

Well, I do hope Akela is wrong. Saturday must be our first win, not draw, not anything but a win. Our team played well on Saturday, lets hope they have been practicing their finishing this weekend.

Thanks for the insight Akela. Have a gut feeling that this is weekend will be the end of the drought for us though.

I've got nothing against Wolves (apart from Emlyn Hughes) but we will beat them on Saturday.

Yes the big names have gone but Younes Kaboul, Kevin Prince Boateng, David James, Aruna Dindane and Jamie O'Hara have showed they have quality to play in a lot of teams in this league. From Wolves I'd take Kightly, Doyle and Mancienne. I fear for us if we concede first, otherwise I can see us picking up our first points of the season.

us much as id like us to win i only have two requirements in the match. 1) do not conceed in the first half ... 2) do not conceed in the second half ... that way at least get a point! i just want us to shore up at the back!
