7-9pts from the next 5 games is needed!
'Pompey need to collect 7-9pts from the next 5 games if we are going to have a chance of staying up', not my vote, yours - although these findings from PompeyJoe's poll are thoughts that I do would agree with to be honest...
Wolves (a), Spurs (h), Hull (a), Wigan (h) and Blackburn (a) are these next 5 games.
On paper, although we all know football is not played on paper, we are capable of getting at least 7pts, I would say 9pts from these games. I believe this is all the more possible if we continue playing like we are.
I would say that beating Wolves is a must as is beating Wigan at Fratton, the Hull and Blackburn away games are games that we cannot afford to lose - we need to take points off teams in and around the bottom 3, if that means a point away and all 3 at home so be it but Hull are there for the taking!
Spurs, well this game is just 'that game' - I do not know what to expect from that game yet; what I do know is it will be a highly charged atmosphere.
So, all in all at least 7pts, as many as 9pts - maybe more - is more than possible from the next 5 games...lets go and get them now, not just talk about them!

On paper 9 looks do-able and I'd agree with your words Rug; I'm just struggling to hav confidence in the current team management set up. Please Mr Hart make me eat humble pie with lashings of contrite custard; I've bought a new spoon and bowl n everthing!

Well a minimum of 7 pts. When you consider that Wolves & Hull will probably be in the bottom 5, these are teams we must not lose to. As for Blackburn & Wigan they will be bottom half teams & would hope for something off them. Off course they will see us a team they can beat & want 3pts for their survival needs.

It is going to be hard, with all the defensive,striking problems we have. It is definately possible, if we can start by beating Wolves on saturday this would give the team confidence for the up coming fixtures. The problem is every team in the premier league will feel they can beat us. This could work in our favour with teams becoming complacent thinking we are a walk over. We need to play Wolves as if we are playing at home, with two strikers. Utaka and Dindane would cause lots of problems. If we lose this would probably be our worst result of the season so far. I just hope and pray PH is positive, like on saturday against Everton. PUP

Just wanna say I feel sorry for you. We had 2 points from 8 games last year, so I know how you feel. And you truly deserved 3 points last weekend playing Everton - just needed a bit more luck. And I would be a bit more concerned about meeting Wolves if I were you. IMO, they are the best of the teams that came up this year.

Thanks for that NorwaYid. We simply must beat Wolves and if we play like we did on Saturday - and with a bit of finishing and Defence practice - then we can do it. I would like to see Belhadj playing, but not in defence. Also, I think Utaka should be given another chanc - although I feel a bit of a hypocrite saying that, as I am his biggest critic!
