Finnan starts in strong reserve side

Steve Finnan is one of several 1st team players that will turn out for the reserves against West Ham at Westleigh Park tonight as he makes his return from a hamstring injury.

Finnan, after making a bright start to his first outing for Pompey, was then injured 20 minutes into his first outing for the club in Portugal during pre-season - this has kept him out since, but he returns tonight, having featured in a behind-closed-door game last week.

Antti Niemi starts in goal and Mike Williamson makes his first Pompey appearance since his arrival from Watford with Danny Webber and Freddy P starting up front.

Tom Kilbey is also back from his loan spell with Dagenham and will line up in midfield along with Eugen Bopp, who is still with the club - have I missed something, did we sign him?

Pompey team: Niemi, Finnan, Williamson, Sowah, Bopp, Cowan-Hall, Kilbey, Mahoto, Nlundulu, Webber, Piquionne
Subs: O'Brien, Ryan, Gregory, Samba, M.Smith

The game kicks-off at 7pm so if anyone fancies a stroll down to Westleigh Park you still have time - if anyone does give me a shout as it would be good if you could report back for us here on Vital Pompey?

Nice idea but I wouldn't have any internet... I'll be coming straight back though and I live right next to Fratton train station, so all going well I could probably have something typed up and on the site by 11.

Lets hope Finnan lasts more than 20 minutes! Surprised to see Bopp's name there as well.

Interesting that Bopp reappears again as hussleer says. Good to see some first team fringe players getting a game for a change.
