SAF's message to the fans

SAF's message to the fans

It appears as though the message has well and truly sunk-in with SAF, as having previously failed to address the Pompey fans at all he has done this a couple of times in the last few days, including a 'message to fans' in the past hour or so...

His message on The Pompey Site reads: 'I can assure supporters that there is a plan in place backed by firm commitments that will bring £50m into Portsmouth Football Club over the next two to three weeks.

'As the owner, I am the first to understand that the club's financial situation is of great concern to everyone associated with Portsmouth Football Club. But I am confident that the club's finances will be fully stabilised over the next few weeks and we can move the club forward.

'Our priority at this stage is to ensure that we stay in the Premier League and we must focus on this. If we pull together and apply the necessary effort, we will see team performances improve and we will move up the Premier League. We are still at an early stage of the season.

'I am proud to be the new owner of Portsmouth Football Club and I am committed to taking this club forward. I will invest prudently in players and infrastructure and I will ensure that Portsmouth Football Club remains loyal to its values, in particular through its engagement with the local community.'

He has asked us to judge him in November, he certainly seems to be finally making the right noises directly to us - so we just have to wait and see what happens, although this seems 'encouraging', right...

It's adefinate improvement in communication & looks like good news but..sorry to be cynical but as Jerry Maguire said 'Show me the money'

Lets give him the couple of months he wants and see if he delivers, maybe he genuinely didn't appreciate the depth of feeling fans have about their clubs. If we tell him loudly enough and he learns his lesson then good luck to him. If however his wallet is completely empty...

He is also listening to the PVA by
i) Using the OS to issue messages not foreign journalists and
ii) Not wearing that replica shirt as in the masthead.

We meet again in November and I hope we might be off the bottom by then.

He seems to have realised that it's a bit harder to be a proud owner of a football club than it is to build houses. If he is as good as his printed words it is promising. No matter what money us available for players it can't be spent until January so in the mean time get the senior management team fixed. Some honest to goodness programs for facilities going and drop lined against; then we can know.

The Jury is still out - but, as the man said, I WILL be judging him in November - and harshly! At last he has said that the Priority is Premiership survival because until now that didn't look obvious at all! I put no blame on PH at all at present, because he is still bedding in these players that simply had no time for a pre-season due to the dillying of Sash & Saf. If we get out of this one it will make "the great escape" look like "prisoner cell block H", but ever the optomist. PUP

Talk is cheap.
28/09/2009 17:19:00
Well..I thought we did well against Bindipper 2's, and the players were a credit to PH and the shirt..... And I for one am going to give SAF the chance...Ninjatim is correct....but we need the infrastructure now..and iam convinced that the team are not the worst in the league and a bit of luck and tweaking will prove benefits

Well he does seem to be learning, and at least he did wear a suit at Everton - OK November then, but we're not mugs and we want to see the money.
28/09/2009 18:32:00
Agreed, let's give him a chance. But I still don't know how he could buy into the club, knowing full well the financial position, and yet have no cash to spend.
28/09/2009 20:20:00
sounds like he means it, so now lets see some action.
