'If It's Football, It's Vital'

March with the blue army to Molineux!

You cannot underestimate what having a fantastic following can do for a club - and we, the 12th man, could make a huge difference if we turn up in numbers and offer fantastic support for the team as only Pompey fans can at Wolves this weekend.

The travelling support at Villa, whilst small in numbers, was fantastic at Villa Park recently - many were amazed at how much noise 300 of us made, and that atmosphere was something else at times. For me I would say that 30-minutes rendition of 'The Great Escape' challenged one of the most fantastic memories I have from the past decade or so when I have been in the crowd, the 'Tony Adams blue and white army' against Milan...

As many as 600 are said to have gone to Carlisle for that midweek game last week and again I thought the support was fantastic that night, with some real old classics rolled out.

The support against Everton at Fratton in our last game, and I guess to be fair the support against Bolton - on the whole, has also been really good. Is it any coincidence that this upturn in fortunes, at least performance wise, has coincided with this real upturn in vocal support from the fans?

I think not.

So, and again for me, the more we can take to Wolves, and the more noise we make, the more difference this can help make to the outcome of this game, which - even at this 'fairly early' stage of the season - really is a must win game.

I know that football is far from cheap these days but by today's standards, £24 for a ticket is not that bad really, is it?

So, if you have not got a ticket and you can make it why not get down to the ticket office this week and pick up one - Wolverhampton is not really that far from Portsmouth is it?

Go on, you know you want to!

I know I want to be at the game where our season finally turns around, hence why I am going - from Devon via Milton Keynes when I visit my sister.

No, I am not working on commission or am I under instruction from PFC, this is being done off my own back as I know just how important we, The Blue Army, can be to the team so the more we could take the better, and as said the more I feel this increases our chances of getting that all important win going into the international break...

Well said Rug. I know a few that are going and it is beginning to have a steam roller effect. Bet there will be well over a 1,000 there.
eastneydave
me and 5 of my mates are going to this game got tickets today... will be my first game of the season hope it can be the turning point of our season . 3 points is vital.. how many tickets have been sold anyone know.
pompeyhussler
wasnt their 800+ at villa not 300??
pompeyhussler
As you know Rug Ms P and I are going on our first away trip...Can't wait. I do hope Ms P is driving home, I can feel a beer or two flowing :-)
pentonpompey
Wish i could go, but cant afford it, but ill be there in spirit.
PompeyFcMad
can justify to the misses 24 quid but 40 plus for a game is bit more than i can afford
pompeyhussler
it might have been 800+ at villa park, i am not sure - there didnt seem to be many of us there and this, 300, is only what i was told by my villa mate, my boss on vital Mr J P Fear - i think it was J that told me that anyway...

lets do it guys, lets take an army to molineux and roar on the side to our first 3pts of the season, what a way to prepare for the international break and then the arrival of the spuds to fratton!
pompeyrug
i know we were given 1,500 for wolves game but dont know if we will sell all. i know alot of people going to this one as its only 24 quid plus the performance against everton was better and every pompey fan wants to be thier for the first win .. i think the crowds will slowly come back and when its 20quid we will sellout at home
pompeyhussler
I am looking into the possibilities of going too. Its looking good at the moment.
Gandor1
looking good o points from 7 lol
pompeyhussler
Had been planning to go to this, unfortunately can't do at the moment but good luck to all of you who can make it - I know you'll all make noise and get behind the lads, cos thats what Pompey fans do best.
tracyc
I mentioned it to my old man last night and he was up for. So there's a good chance I'll be joining the army. After all, it should will be our first points of the season.

I'd love to go but unfortunately I've got to work, otherwise I'd be there. Cheer the lads on for me and let's make Saturday our first game (and win) of the season! I've had my current season ticket since the start of 2008/09 season, and the Everton game was one of the best performances I've seen in that time (the Milan game aside!).
pompeysloth
100% agree Rug. The atmosphere at Villa was superb. Old school Pompey away games like I haven't seen in a while. Can't wait for Wolves.
Pompeytim
this is such a massive game! if we can get a decent result this could really push us up the table.
nodster
Er nodster regardless of the result we're still bottom, but I know what you mean. ;)
