Pompey Man of the match against Villa

Pompey Man of the match against Villa

'David James was Pompey's man of the match against Villa', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I guess I would agree with to be honest...

James made several really good saves, the first of which came from his own teammate actually when Aaron Mokoena sent a bullet header goal bound, which thankfully James turned over - from the resulting corner the South African looked like he was going to try it again! Another good save that sticks in my mind came in the 2nd half when he turned away a long-range effort.

So, all in all I can see why James got this to be fair.

Although I actually thought that Michael Brown was our best outfield player so I am disappointed to see him so far behind Jamie O'Hara. We need big Papa Bouba Diop back and when he is if I was selecting the side I think Mokoena would be more under threat than Brown...

  • What the poll asked - Man of the match against Villa?

  • How you voted - James 34%, O'Hara 33%, Brown 11%, Boateng 8%, Belhadj 8%, Mokoena 2%, Piquionne (77) 2%, Kaboul 2%, Vanden Borre 0%, Ben-Haim 0%, Smith (76) 0%, Sub - Kanu 76 0%, Sub - Webber 77 0%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Completely agree with the poll result. Without Jamo the score could have been at least 4-0. PH has bemoaned the fact that we have lost games by the odd goal, but without Jamo the scores could have been worse. For me he is the only 'star' we have at the moment.

Jamo is last 'star' standing. How the hell Moko gets a game every week is beyond me. We can blame the players & the takeover for a lot but PH has 2 games to save his skin. We lose to Everton & Wolves & he's a gonner. Then the club will have a few weeks before we welcome Spurs. 0-9 then!!!

Speaks for its self, lose 2-0 and still the keeper is man of the match! If I were him, I think I'd go in January aswell!

That is my problem with Mokoena being a captain. He is going to be selected every week. Diop is a better player than him, and Brown should remain in the side. Also, I think that Utaka should be given some time aswell. He wasn't that bad in the first few games.

    Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.

    Winning over the fans

Cook feels he still has to 'win over a proportion' of the fans at Pompey?

Tubbs surprised...in a way he has a point

5-goals in a combined total of 8-matches isn't a bad return is it so having made his move to Eastleigh this week I get Tubbs' point at his surprise Cook wasn't selecting him.
