Pompey's new agenda

Well then Pompey, its time to reassess our season with a few goals outlined below!

1 First job is to get a point, just one to get the ball rolling.

2. Stop giving away penalties! 4 in 7 matches is disastrous, when you can't score you can't give away freebies.

3 Beat the lowest points tally for a Premiership team, 11 to be precise, 2 short years ago by Derby.

4 Next up is to get off the bottom of the table!

5 Might be a bit more difficult this one, that is survival, 40 points is the target as we all know, trouble is there only 32 left, can anyone see 10 wins and and 10 draws in there somewhere?

6 If the five objectives above can be achieved, then we can look to the future, lees talk about a new renovated ground, less talk about starting a new training ground, only action can pacify Pompey fans now, only make promises if they can be kept!

I'm fed up with "We played well but schoolboy errors cost us" its time to have a look at the team in general, if Belhadj can't defend, don't bloody well play him there, likewise Vanden Borre, Ben Haim looks all at sea at the moment, chuck him a raft! And for all his promise and graft, Piquionne has yet to register a Premiership goal, maybe a partner would help? 4-5-1 is the formation we play week in, week out, has anyone noticed it is not working?
paultsmouth
Difficult to argue with that agenda - now tell us how it's going to be achieved.

It reminds me of my Primary School team; After every game (Laverstoke; It was a tiny school, as Plymouth Gray can verify) I had to stand up in assembly and say;..............We played well, but............
pentonpompey
i like that penton.......very funny. perhaps hart should have to do something similar, public shaming.......come to think of it.........'we created chances' blah, blah, blah. weld rather play players who cant score than ones with experience......la, la, la.
ruffcider
shaming? shameing?

We need to get points very quickly! otherswise as you said we will be like Derby.

The best thing about being a Pompey fan at the moment is that when I tune into Match of the Day to see us lose, I still get treated to a football masterpiece from the top six. We don't look like scoring at the moment, let alone get any points. All too little, too late. It'll take a miracle for us to survive and I'm saying that after six games. Dear dear.
stillthewhizz
Nice one Paultsmouth, Rug and I were discussing the Belhadj role yesterday; the boss is the only one who thinks he should play there. Those goals though; a bit ambitious ? We created 15 chances but....... blah blah blah yardi yardi blah

The Pundits are Pundits, and the mantre of you cant sell all your best players and replace them with inferiours is still getting on my tits a bit, but it is starting to ring true..
plymouth graham
what the pundits do not seem to be able to grasp is the fact that we sold these players because we had to and not because we, as a club, wanted to - it was either sell or probably have no club left... and the reason these 'expert pundits' cannot grasp this concept is because these 'experts' have only ever played for for clubs that have not struggled, at least financially - most football wise either - so they do not understand how the situation works, thats what gets on my wick the most...

i cannot, and will not give up until it is mathmatically impossible to stay up, and to be thinking we will need a miracle after only 6 games is an unbelievable way of thinking, right?
pompeyrug
as said tho russ, to be fair to hart who else could play at left back? james hurst is the guy i was thinking of, but other than that we literally have no one else that is fit - i was not keen on micheal ball coming in, but if he can be fit enough to slot in then get him! not sure The Herminator will stay fit enough for long enough but know we need him back and finnan at right back as vanden borre is a shocking player...
pompeyrug
is linvoy fit
robertpog
What's the panic fella .. we lost more than six games last season and stayed up.. if this run was in the middle of the season we wouldn't be complaining as much .. Do you reckon I've convinced myself yet ?
Chix
Not yet Chix, keep going mate
paultsmouth
Keep it going Chix, I think you will need to convince everyone! lol
sneakay
Nice one Chix, just thinking the same, we can go on a roll now and win the next 7 or 8 and everyone will be happy.......yeah ok, dream on. At least we can say the midfield looks good, and thank god the new players are keeping Muggins out of the side. Hopefully if Dindane can get fit over the next few weeks and maybe give Webber a chance at the the start of a game we can then perhaps look like we are going to score. Clearly people are going to call for Harts head now, but in all honesty I have given him the benefit of doubt due to the hassle, and let his players bed in etc etc, but surely now if we don't get anythuing on Saturday or away to Wolves the 8 games and nothing must surely mean the end to his reign. Got to look back to Spuds last year and after 8 games they only had 2 points and still survived placing very well in the end, so there is hope. :-)
blarmy
I disagree with the experts' response that we're doomed because we haven't replaced our 'stars'. A good team will be better than the sum of its parts. To survive, we need to cut out the mistakes, work hard, play as a team, believe and have a bit of luck.
