Pompey now fully own The Quay

It has been confirmed, although not officially on The Pompey Site, that the club now fully owns The Quay.

Previously 26% was owned but now it is up to 100% after the club bought the station from The Local Radio Company (TLRC) for a 'nominal sum'.

This is of course a good thing as it ensures that future Pompey games will be broadcast on The Quay to ensure all fans remain in touch with matchday coverage and the football hours, but the reservation that I have is 'freedom of speech' might be removed somewhat?

We do not want, nor should we see, The Quay become the clubs puppet - and hopefully it will not...

Also it is also said by The News that Pompey's share of Spirit FM has been sold to TLRC for £80,000.

Owning the Quay is undoubtedly a good thing. It gives the club a voice and a chance to talk to the fans without the interference of the News or Website editors. The problem is it loses big money because no-one listens to the station and that needs addressing quickly.

This is excellent news, and I am actually listening to the Quay as a write this. As long as it doesn't turn into the SAF radio station.

That's good to hear, no more worrying about where I'm gonna catch the games next season. I have a slight concern that the club may consider trying to squeeze more cash from the fans by charging for the Online streams at matchtime, but hopefully I'm just being paranoid.

Great news!

It sounds like a good thing, but I can't get a feed on-line (W.Africa). I could receive the station before but on matchdays they used to cut me off because of contractual problems (the same with BBC).

PFCblue try going through Radiopaq, i got it from Rug as due to work i worldwide travel a lot; an awfull lot. I dont know which state you are in but i recall it works in Nigeria and Cote d'ivoir. Im not sure it is a good thing that he quay is not independant; why would pompey buy it if they wanted it to remain independant?
