Some official news about SAF at last

Some official news about SAF at last

Finally the man speaks...well Peter Storrie does on SAF's behalf anyway.

No sooner had I finished writing an article that I planned to publish, complaining about the fact that SAF was once again talking to the media - in America - but not us, was a statement published on The Pompey Site that says he has 'in principle secured new finance to inject into Portsmouth Football Club over the coming months.'

It also confirmed, something that had been mentioned to us this afternoon, that SAF will meet with supporters groups - including the PVA, which of course includes Vital Pompey - ahead of the Everton game to discuss the clubs future.

Storrie said: 'Sulaiman has been in America for the last couple of weeks and has in principle secured new finance which will come into the club over the next couple of months.

'Following discussions with me, he is very happy to meet representatives from fan websites and supporters' clubs before the Everton game.

'Sulaiman will outline his plans for the club and the way forward, something he was not in a position to do before the refinancing of the club was done.'

Finally a step in the right direction, and having heard Storrie's view on Saturday we can now look forward to hearing SAF's own views in a couple of weeks - this is when I feel we can fully begin to decide what the future actually will bring, and then the months ahead will prove if he is the right or wrong man for Pompey...

Unfortunately, for all our sakes, this comes a little too late. The damage and bad PR has been done. The press will now not leave us alone, and SAF has lost the backing and trust (in my opinion) of the majority of Pompey fans! Having now seen that no previous owner has pumped any money in (just increased our debt to almost club ending levels!) I don't believe that this man will be any different and his recent world tour to raise funds must be on the never-never! No doubt SAF has just been stopping off at previous Lehman Brothers investors to ask for a tab. I trust the PVA will ask the searching questions that need asking of this individual (we owe him nothing and deserve better), and.....if he can't take Pompey forward with a short, medium and long-term (because in the real world, proper business' have one of each) plan then hand it over to some individuals that are waiting in the wings and can !

Sod it I just added" another knee jerk reaction from SAF" on the dindane article. just like the PVA minutes on Storrie's comments none of The SAF statement is particularly reassuring; what is SAF securing finance against club debt?
15/09/2009 17:32:00
Also the part about "meeting my manager on Nov 21st" is seriously worrying
15/09/2009 17:35:00
I would assume that this simply puts us back to where we were before Standard bank decided to recall there debts (albeit without quite a lot of debt... and quite a few players!). I'm not overly concerned that Al fahim isn't meeting up with hart that regualy, I mean, what can he say/do to change the situation at the moment, other than offer reasurances.
15/09/2009 18:21:00
and SAF still hasn't actually spoken to the pompey site yet, so i am no more reasured that his ways are changing on that front either...
15/09/2009 18:22:00
how is this a knee jerk reaction russellm? he's been in the US for what 2 weeks now? looking for investment and aparently hes found it, good its about time really, what the future holds and what sort of an investment it is (i.e is it just another damn loan) is too be seen, and i look forward to knowing some more before the Everton game. lets just hope its a serious investment that actually puts us in a better place rather than back to where we were.....
15/09/2009 18:28:00
well lets get the stadium underway then doctor increase to 32,000 we will make this back with corprate etc in a few years.. plus this will put the value of portsmouth up. even if we get relegated we should start to build !!! i think we could still fill 32,000 in the championship but we would have to half the ticket price to about 17 quid
15/09/2009 20:32:00
for adults 17 students 10 kids 4 that will get the fans back.

Supporting Pompey would be so much nicer if I were 10 years old the extent that I wouldn't be talking about finance and investment and debts and inflation;I'd just be hanging round FP trying to get autographs and arguing with my mates about whether Belhadj should be in the team. I'd be running round Milton Park imagining that I was passing to Tommy Smith. Part of me wants to completely forget about the mechanisms and the business aspect of this in the same way that when I'm doing 70 mph down the A3 I don't want to think about what might happen if a vital engine component were to break. If anyone talks to me about Storrie or SAF, I will shove my fingers in my ears and go "LA LA LA LA LA" until they go away.

We need his money january to buy great players, but could that be too late?
