Free Agent Webber joins Pompey
Nothing official yet but a few of the nationals are running with the story that Pompey have signed 27 year old Danny Webber on a two year deal.
Webber was a product of Manchester United Youth set-up but failed to make a league appearence before transferring to Watford and then later Sheffield United from where he was released, along with a host of other players, at the end of last season when Kevin Blackwell decided to reshape his squad.
Webbers scoring record is approx 1 in 4 which compares favorably to most forwards although he has very limited premier league experience.
So what do we reckon fellas - Is 'Danny Boy' gonna be our 'Fox in the Box' or a 'Dead Duck'?

Thanks Chix - just picked this up and thought quick write story and you beat me to it. As to Webber he has injury problems but gives us an extra experienced body.

Skysports also " understands" the same so I expect it to happen. If this guy is so good why did no one else pick him up for example Wigan and Hull have been scouring for strikers and they would have known about him from the players register. 1 in 4 was similar to Nugents championship record; I'm yet to be convinced that this is not another cheap hope

Never heard of him but i hope hes good. But i also hope we get Camara aswell.

So we let a tried and tested skillful player like Zenden go and give up on him, then sign a championship reject.....just getting ready for next season are we Mr Hart...sorry but the quality of players we seem to be getting is depressing. Just hope he instill some team spirit that might get us through, but I'm pessimistic.

We seem to be preparing a championship team for the future. I have to trust Paul Hart but these signings are sending out a lousy message.

i'd go for "dead duck" looking at his scoring ratio, but, need to see him play really.

If we have him to replace Nugent, that is a very good move. Any one can be better than him. Guys, I do not think that a team having Dindanne, Piqiuonne, O'Hara, Kaboul and James is preparing for the championship.

Danny webber is not a good player in my opinion! never scored enough goals for watford,not very strong and not a player who put's in any sort of effort. He is quick but that's about all he has going for him,who knows perhap's he has improved as a player since then. Premiership contender no chance!

The BBC are reporting that we have, 'won the race' to sign Webber. I don't think I would have done more than 'amble' to sign him.

Not exactly big names, but players that'll be out to make a name for themselves. Can't see him getting much of a look in at the moment.
