Kidd moves onto Citeh

I think that we had all pretty much accepted that Brian Kidd would not be returning to Pompey as Paul Hart's assistant, but any lingering hopes that anyone might have had have now been totally banished...

Kidd, a former blue as well as red on Manchester, has returned to Citeh as technical development manager where he will head up their academy.

Hart and Kidd started very well, with Kidd a strong presence on the touchline - at least early on, latterly in his spell last season he seemed to take a more backseat role, but this could have been due to the travelling that he was having to do from Manchester and so on taking its toll? And it was this travelling, or at least reluctance to leave Manchester being the main reason why he would not return to Pompey.

Good luck to Kiddo, thanks for what you did with us. I am sure that he will do a fine job with Citeh.

So, with this door now 100% shut alternatives must be sought but it is not looking like we will have an assistant, a full time one anyway that is employed solely in that job, in time for the Bolton game at the weekend?

I always thought that Steve Cotterill would be a good punt for us

Yep, Steve Cotterill would be good, Owen. How about Kevin Dillon? We've mentioned a few names, but it's not like wanting a player who would do well. The main ingredient for a succesful assistant is the relationship with PH and getting the right man could be make or break for PH and Pompey's season.

I'd like to get rid of paul hart and have Paul Lambert in charge.
