Kanu commits for the season

The talk has rumbled on - nowhere near as much as it had previously to be fair - but the talking can now stop as The Pompey Site has officially confirmed that Kanu has signed a new 1-year contract.

Kanu signed a 1-month deal at the start of the season, although it was said that a longer-term deal would always be signed, although there were some 'reports' of an interest from Notts County - but this has amounted to nothing.

He is another good option to have - if used correctly!

I do wish that when he does come on he played alongside another striker though as he, and his ability to help us, is wasted when he becomes the like for like replacement for the lone striker as he cannot do this job...

This contract surely will be his final with the club, although I guess the nothing can be ruled out with the 'Peter Pan of football'.

I'm pleased, he is still great to watch for 20 mins or so, and he is like a pair of lod slippers at the Park now

he is a joy to watch isnt he, so if we use him the right way and with the right people we will be laughing...some of his footwork on sunday against citeh was just out of this world, but we should never have been bringing him on for Freddy P, he should have played alongside him.

Apparently this contract was awarded on the basis of loyal service .. and the fact that Kanu has just celebrated his 25th birthday .. Where would we be without The King ;)

Im quite pleased with this, i think Pompey might need him this season as with Nugent and Crouchie leaving and Piqiuonne and Dindane we only have four strikers, which inlcudes Kanu.

He's still capable of a bit of magic, God love him. Worth a place on the bench.

Its as though the ball is on a bit of elastic attached to his foot when he is playing with it. Must say his "warm up" made me laugh. Did I miss the running bit, or was he really strolling along the side of the pitch?

Glad he stayed, he was linked with quitting football altogether and challenging Usain Bolt's 100m record.

Great, he is wonderful to watch. I believe that he played a big part in saving us last season; that goal he scored against Bolton and when Crouch scored his second against Everton at Fratton, it was all down to him - blocking Howard in an exceptional manner. Those 2 goals gave us 4 points.

I am pleased for him. We must not forget that his goals in the Semi and Final won us the Cup.
