'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ben Haim deal confirmed

I think that we have all accepted that Tal Ben Haim was signing, or had signed, for Pompey but until The Pompey Site officially announces this it is not the case...

They now have.

The Israeli central defender has been confirmed as a signing from Citeh on a 4-year-contract for an undisclosed amount, subject to a work permit being issued - which should not be an issue.

He said: 'I'm very happy to be here at Pompey. It's a big challenge because after four games we have no points but I'm ready for the challenge.

'I want to help Pompey get some good results and take them to the position they belong. We've brought a few players in now and I believe that we can turn things around and win some games.

'I've watched a few of the games and we've been unlucky to get beaten in all of them. That's why I'm confident that we can improve quickly.

'I've come here to give 100 percent in each game and no less. I'm sure that's the same for all the lads.'

He says the right things, lets hope he backs them up with actions.

Like so many that we have signed Ben Haim does have 'a point to prove' so this should work in our favour - if he shows the form that tempted Chelski into signing him we are onto a winner, although if he shows the form that meant Sunderland did not even play him during a loan spell last season not so!

Although I am confident on this signing though and can see Ben Haim and Younes Kaboul building up a good pairing at the back.

He's a class act, definately a step in the right direction.

Rug, gotta give the poor web developer at Pompey a chance. Must hate Transfer Deadline day.

I work with a couple of Bolton fans. They are gutted that they did not go in for him. They recon he is worth 2 Zat Knights.

I'm really chuffed abut this signing.. Is he better than Distin.. one current form (unfit match wise) I'd say no .. but potentially on a free he is a bargain..
Chix
He can do a good job, played well against Barca (that can only be a good thing?), and if given first team football every week, he will do well for us. Good capture.
.Andrew.
If he can stop the mistakes and the attitude then he might be a bargain
russellm
Better than what we have, so good signing, Chelsea and Man City both rated him enough to take him and they are dealing in a different ballgame to us (finacially anyway)
paultsmouth
yes but then chelsea have given him a pretty hard slating on their website. Pretty much the worst defender they ever had - bad player bad attitude and this from a guy who says he has a soft spot for pompey... I was quite happy about this till I read that
