Pompey close in on double loan signing

Pompey close in on double loan signing

Talk of Nicky Shorey joining Pompey on a season loan has intensified over the past few days and according to 'sky sports sources' this morning it is 'said' that we are close to securing this loan deal...

Villa defender Shorey is now on his way to Fratton for a medical before completing his signing.

I think the guy would make a good signing but I am still not entirely sure if I would have used this final domestic loan on the 28-year-old full back, but then again it could have been a lot worse! We are talking about an England international here...

Joining him on loan will be Hassan Yebda.

News of this season long loan 'officially' happening broke on Monday evening, although nothing official from our end has been announced on the Benfica midfielders loan signing.

A busy day a Fratton seems to be heating up and we are not even at 9.30am yet!

i guess by signing shorey we also free up the herminator to be used as a central defender, no?
we have, altho not confirmed, signed ben haim and i suspect that the ivory coast guy - the free agent - will come in as well so i think that is enough for central defence tbh...

With Niko likely to be leaving, Shorey could play left back, with Belhadj moving to left wing (his better position). Why exactly do we keep signing defensive midfielders?

I can't keep up with all this. Wake me up when the window closes.

belhadj is better at left back though... he tends to get a little lost on the wing. Yebda sounds like he might actually be quite good... well, better than mullins/hughes/mokoena

Please, someone, tell me if we've signed a playmaker yet? At this rate we'll never get out of our own half.

Don't we need a dedicated centre half; or have I missed something?

Shorey's a good signing though. Pompey should be glad to have him.

I see BenHaim has been given a squad number, so that means we have definately got him. I cannot believe for the life of me why we have let Niko go for £2M if that is indeed true. Surely even with only a year left on his contract he's got to be worth 5 or 6 times that amount. God I hate Spurs even more now. Can only hope we kick their butts when they come down.
