Zaki - yes, no, maybe/Zenden still on?
With the transfer window drawing to a close it is expected that we will see plenty of activity around Fratton over the next 24-hours or so...
Zaki - who knows...
Amr Zaki is someone that has been 'linked' with Pompey for some time, he is also one of the players that SAF said he would bring in upon his takeover and now 'sky sports understands' that a £3m offer has been made.
This in itself is not a surprise, as this is not new news is it.
'Word on the street' had it that he had been on his way to the club to discuss terms this weekend, although his club - Zamalek - are said to have made it clear that he is not for sale, well not until January anyway.
At the moment I would guess the odds are stacked against a deal, but you never know...

Pompey battle with Blackburn for Zenden?
Bolo Zenden remains a free agent and also continues to be 'linked' with Pompey, and has been for several weeks.
A return to England remains his favoured option, and 'reports' from sky sports news are 'claiming' that he is in talks with us, and Blackburn, over a return to the premier league.
I would be more than happy to welcome the 33-year-old and I would also imagine that he would have more of a chance of featuring more regularly for Pompey, but he may prefer the lure of a potentially 'easier season' with Blackburn?
Time will tell on this one, but with the guy a free agent any deal that any club does with him might not need to be a priority as he would of course remain a free agent after 5pm tomorrow...

Ben Haim on his way?
Further 'word on the street' has it that Tal Ben Haim is on his way to Fratton with a move from Citeh on the cards?
At this point no further info is available as to what type of deal this would be, loan or a permanent move, but feelers put out seem to suggest that this is a deal that could well happen?

ben haim is what we need at the back, zaki is what we need up front, and zenden... I have no idea. pompey have also confirmed there have been no bids for jamo (so he'll be off tommorow), meanwhile Benjani has not agreed terms with hull, and so is still available (if we want him).

What ive heard is that the bid has been rejected for Zaki, his agent has said. Hope its not true though but if it is pomppey should try and get him on loan or bid again.

I'd love to see Benjani back. Maybe more so than Zaki, who could be described as unstable - something of Laurant Robert about this guy. Maybe not a team player.

We really need a couple of central defenders first and then a creative central midfielder, if it means Nugent, Basinas, Hughes, Kanu,Utaka and Ashdown have to be sacrificed so be it.

i disagree we need a decent striker 1st, or there'll be no point in having a decent defence cause we'll never score any goals..

We have a decent striker, but the manager took him off and brought a complete waste of time on, and then compounded it by bringing on two more "strikers" who are not up to the job.
Piquionne and Dindane need a decent service, and then we will be a threat.

A reporter in the midlands for SSN said that Blackburn probably wont be signing anyone.

Kanu was great when he came on and utaka is also playing far better, harts mistake was to take off freddy and not hughes. keeping on 3 defensive mifielders when we were trailing wasnt his best move, imo.

Allegedly inthe throes of finalising a move to jamies dad's team for 2.5 million!
I know he is out of contract at the end of the season, but come on, people pay loan fees of nearly that much¬!

i may get a lot of negatives about this and i am gradually consuming a bottle of three barrels brandy.....but i would play kanu in the centre of midfield...he can hiold a ball see a pass and conduct without having to run around...whoooo juzt seen newcastles goal live on sky

I would never sell Utaka Owenspompey. He is giving us some depth. How could you say that he wasn't up for the job against City????

ruffcider, Hughes should have been substituted at halftime and make space for Utaka or Basinas. He was a complete waste. He almost forced Mokoena to get red carded with his silly mistakes, trying to keep the ball when he has no idea of how to do that. He had a good opportunity to score, but he kept his record of not scoring a league goal!

yea i don't see huges appearing in a blue shirt in the league again i'm afraid, but on the bright side we got loads of new holding mids so we shouldn't miss him too much =/ lol
