O'Hara comes in on loan

Pompey have officially, with it again confirmed on The Pompey Site, signed Jamie O'Hara from Spurs in a loan deal.

The midfielder has come in on loan until January - with the option to extend until the end of the season - to give us another midfield option through the middle or further out wide - he can also play as a full back at a push, so he offers great versatility as well.

I think this is a really good loan signing and one that I am very happy with as I rate the guy.

O'Hara himself is happy to have arrived, where he will be among plenty of familiar faces: 'it was frustrating to be sat on the bench at Tottenham. Hopefully I can come here and get some games under my belt.

'My agent told me that Paul Hart was really interested a few days ago and Harry Redknapp asked me if I'd like to go out on loan.

'It's a chance to play for a side who have done really well over the last few years, so I jumped at the opportunity.

'I know Younes from when he was at Tottenham and Kevin-Prince Boateng and Michael Brown have also joined, so it's good to meet up with them again.

'I'm always going to give 100 percent and hopefully I'll fit in straight away and get to know the lads quite quickly.

'If we're going to play 4-3-3 then hopefully I'll play in the centre of midfield, where I can attack and score some goals.'

Attack away my good man, attack away!

This concludes our business for the day, surely, but what a day on the whole eh?

People knock him but I think we have to give a big thanks to Peter Storrie for doing these deals, and I believe that these were all the deals that he has had lined up for many months and has been working tirelessly on for the past few weeks.

So, credit where it is well and truly due on this one!

Also, and sorry not to have mentioned more on this, Pompey youngster Marlon Pack has joined Wycombe on a months loan.

Something that he is happy to have done: 'reserve team football is good but this is a good opportunity for me to play first-team football.

'It will be a great experience for me to learn from someone like (Wycombe manager) Peter Taylor, who has got so much knowledge.

'Hopefully this will be good for my game and help me improve so that I can come back to Pompey a better player.'

This will do him, and of course us plenty of good, so good luck to him.

Best signing of the lot. Surpised that you-know-who has let him go. Could it have been part of the Boateng deal or just 'someone' feeling guilty?

Some good business today. Three solid signings and one squad signing. Another striker, a winger and some central defenders should see us through to January. Welcome back Danielle Lloyd.

Glad we landed o'hara, good little player. Hopefully he'll like it down here and we'll keep him on for the whole season and maybe sign him. Feel alot happier bout our situation after 2days transfer activity. PUP

as a Spurs fan, I have to say I'm gutted to see us lose him as a squad option for several months - he's a very useful sub for closing out games. He has a good shot on him and always gives 100%, and can fill LB, LW, and CM. I think we let him go out on loan since there are rumors he really wants regular games though also doesn't want to leave Spurs, and at his age he needs to be playing more anyways. Best of luck to him and Pompey this season :)

Surprised Harry let him go, with Jenas injured our center midfield is down to the bare bones ;) Good signing from your point of view. And stillthewhizz hands off Danielle Lloyd, she's property of Tottenham Hotspur...

I am genuinely excited with this signing! Great player! Good move Hart! :-) Is it too late for him to play against Citeh on sunday? Or any of the signings today?!

Jamie's a solid player and will really benefit from playing every week. Make no mistake, this guy's well worth a place in the Pompey 1st team imo. I'm looking forward to seeing how he comes on over the course of the next few months. He's had some triffic games for us and some others that were more forgettable. Hope he does well down there anyway. Good luck Pompey.

I don't think that wingers are on PH's list, whizz. It even looks like JOH has been told it's not going to be 4-4-2.

wow! This looks like we have sorted out our problems in central midfield... (although created one in defence). I am starting to feel more confident about the season...

Phartman87 - A friend of mine down in Porto Allegre's been sweating on Internacional losing Sandro to us this week. I didn't think there was anything in it (just red-top gossip), especially when the link up between the clubs was announced earlier explaining why Levy was over here, but who knows, perhaps we have a new CM incoming and we have some cover if Redknapp's got confidence in Bostock and/or Parrett. Personally I'd love to see Bostock used from the bench on Sat' if we're leading in the 2nd half.

With KPB sold, JJ injured and O'Hara/Livermoor out on loan he's either got a lot of faith in Bostock and Parrett or more likely a 'big gun' coming in to partner and/or be an understudy to Wilson. I'd prefer it to be the other way round (buy before we sell) but then again it wouldn't be spurs without watching SSN at midnoght on deadline day. The balls in your court now 'Arry (or Jamie's dad as he's known around these parts ;-)...

'arry was linked with Muntari again today, and with Sneijder joining Inter, it was said that he could well be on his way back to 'Arry. maybe that is Spurs potential 'big gun'. Phartman - 'arry wouldn't be 'arry without doing some last minute deals! Lol. I wonder what the chances are of SIR Benjani coming back home this window.. Slim? :-(

Benjani is injured? Still? I don't remember him being so injury prone when he was here (well maybe the odd knock every now and then). I can only dream of a Benjani return then :-(

The end of a very busy day and we are much stronger now than when it started. Just a central defence position to cover after the departure of Distin.

Surprised Harry has let him leave even on loan. Will be very interesting to see his progression at Pompey as regards his long term Spurs future. Doubt he will be sold to you though as just signed a 4 year contract prior to going. He is not going to be 1st team for us and once every1 was fit not even 1st choice cover. We have Palacios, Hudd and JJ for central midfield. Saying this he was still excellent cover and very versatile. Personally wanted to see him try and develop into Palacios' understudy, but as that is not going to happen, will be very interesting to see where he plays for you and what he comes up with. Definetly a good player and potentially if takes his chance with you, could become a top player, you just never know. Has the right attitude thats for sure and that is a great start. Also good ability as can do a bit of everything. Like I say will certainly be interesting to see how he performs and I hope he is going to get regular 1st team action as he is arguably one of your best CM's now and this is the whole point of him going to you. The loan could well be for the season though, as expect someone to come in now. Having got rid off him and Boateng, we are only really left with the 3 options mentioned above and that is not enough for a full season. If we get someone in on loan like Anin, if not good enough could leave in Jan and we get JOH back, but if we sign a top quality CM now, expect him to be with you for the season and to be honest that can only be good for you. Certainly looks a lot more promising than a few days ago, Harry has done an old friend a favour here. Perhaps not so much with Boateng, but certainly with JOH, quite surprised, but then also pleasant in terms of him getting regular games and chance to really establish himself as a Prem player.

I talked to a Spurs fan and had very good comments about Boateng. O'Hara, there is no need to ask about him. He is good uality, something we need! I just do not like his name, in Maltese it means something not pretty. Storagrematt should know that!!!

2 midfielders who are not your typical Hart defensive midfielder types - looks like we'll have a decent 4-5-1 team now!

I'm just finding it such a relief that the takeover is done, and now we have started signing players - and players of premiership quality for that matter. Hopefully there'll be a more optimistic feel around the place now, that'll help us against Citeh.

I watched a few minutes of Tommy Smith's last Watford game (on last week's BBC Football League Show), and i have to say, i was impressed. I think along with O'hara, Smith & Dindane we could do some damage to the opposition. Plus anyone else we may sign. I am finally excited about this season!
