And now Boateng signs!

The Pompey Site has confirmed that Pompey have completed another signing with Kevin-Prince Boateng arriving from Spurs.

The midfielder has signed a 3-year contract for an undisclosed amount - 'said' to be around £4m - which has left Paul Hart 'thrilled': 'Kevin's a good player and I'm very thrilled that we've managed to get him here.

'He's a young player who wants to prove something. Like all the players we've brought in, he's got something to prove.

'He's got tremendous ability and hopefully we can provide the environment to channel that.'

Welcome aboard Kevin, in all honesty I am not sure what to think as I have not seen enough of you to judge that much. Now is your chance to prove yourself, as I am sure you will get plenty of opportunity to shine this season.

Now fulfil that early promise...

Im so excited about this guy! Soo much promise, but never had a chance to do anything! Spuds had many players in same position better than him, and never got a real string of games. Much better than basinas and mullins, so should get a good go, and prove that he is actually quaity, and can develop as a player under us!

I've rated KPB but thought he didn't get a fair opportunity at the Lane. He's had three managers since his arrival and two didn't want him there. However Sevilla wanted him while Ramos was still their manager. He has the ability to the be an outstanding box-to-box midfielder and now he will be able to play weekly we may just see that. Alongside Papa Bouba Diop he could help shore up the midfield especially if Mokoena is played as a defensive midfielder; however that means Hart will have to change the formation a little. Well done Pompey. There is hop for you yet.

pompeym@ - he's a bit of both. Box to box midfielder, bit of a tank. I seem remember he kung-fu kicked somebody last season whilst playing for Dortmund.

I reckon 'Arry has done you lot a favour here, not that you'll remember the good things he's done for you (FA Cup) next time we meet. Hope the lad does well, he deserves a good chance.

KPB is a quality player, but he will need time to settle. technically he is very good and is well up for a battle, if anything a little to well up for it. if he can calm down and concentrate on playing football, he will be a fantastic signing for you.

Yeah he did us a massive favour by leaving us when he found out there was no money at the club. If the same happens at spurs don't expect him to hang around for too long.

He never really had a chance at Spurs and was a little arrogant when he first arrived. He came with the accolade of being Young Player of the Year in the Bundesliga, so reckoned he'd cracked it. The PL proved a different proposition though and he soon found he didn't have so much time on the ball. For all that, I think he's a decent player and if he's made to feel welcome I reckon you might have yourselves a bit of a gem. With O'Hara coming on loan, I reckon Harry's doing his bit to help you guys out. Good luck in the coming months, hopefully these guys will assist.

moley2, why is it that HR continues to get a bad press with some of the Pompey fans? The word was already out that the club was in financial strife. Harry departure came with a 5m sweetener. He was headhunted - simple as - it was hardly that he went about looking to move. If Pompey's finances had been ok, I doubt he'd have been inclined to move. After all he'd previously had the chance to go to Newcastle and turned that down. In his career I don't think he's left clubs in a worse state than he found them in. The finances are up to the chairman/chief exec. If they sanction a manager's spending surely the buck stops with them and not the manager.

Our strongest lineup if all are fit - James, Vanden Borre, Mokoena, Kaboul, Belhadj, Kevin Prince Boateng, Bouba Diop, Utaka, Kranjcar, Dindane, Piquionne. You can play 4-4-2 with that, 4-3-3, or Hart's favourite 4-5-1.

Schotty, HR has bad press for a number of reasons, not just leaving us for the 2nd time!

thanks johnny... nice article. As for KPB - by the sound of things, he will be a BRILLIANT signing. we havn't really had a decent box-to-box midfielder since... err... well, anyway. we have been lacking quality badley in midfield, hopefully, he might add some much needed guile.

Seems to have outgrown his "Ghetto-boy" image, but whether he's outgrown getting red carded for petulance time will tell. I hope he does well for you anyway. He looks to have buckled down and worked hard at Spurs, but just wasn't quite good enough to catch the breaks he needed.

As a Spurs fan have to say you got a bargain, a lot of Spurs fans didn't want to give him a chance but the little I have seen of him there is enough to suggest given a proper chance he will be a good player.

Would actually have preferred him to go on loan, as there is clearly potential for him to become a quality player. As stated voted a young star in Germany when first came to us and never really given a chance to find his feet to be fair. He came on Wednesday and was unlucky to give away a penalty, but also produced a cracking through ball for Pav to latch onto and get on the score sheet. Almost hope we have inserted a buy-back clause, as he could prove to be a quality player. All things considered, although he cost over 5m, to get 4m back for him after doing basically very little, is actually pretty decent. As I say hope we either got a buy-back clause or a future sale %, as there is definetly un-tapped potential here and it depends on how far he wants to go and is willing to work for it. Can definetly be your box to box midfielder given time and patience.

Hart is right about Boateng. he has a lot of potential. But he needs to be in a team which continually stretches him. He's not a leader of men, if you get me. He is as good as the team he's in. Hart will need to coach the best out of him or the man will start to coast...
