Dindane signing confirmed

Pompey have officially confirmed on The Pompey Site that Aruna Dindane has joined the club from Lens - joining on a season long loan, with Pompey having the option to sign him next summer, to become another much-needed addition to our strike force.

Dindane is happy to have joined Pompey, with him saying that Chelski striker Didier Drogba advised him to do so: 'I'm friends with Didier. I spoke to him on the phone and he said I was making a great choice coming to Pompey.

'They've been interested in me since 2003 so I'm very happy to sign.'

Dindane also feels that the French speakers at the club, and there are plenty, will make his transition easier: 'my integration will be fine because there are a lot of French-speaking players in the dressing room. That's a big help for me.'

He also certainly has plenty of faith in his own ability and feels that we will be fine because 'we have got good players', some of which he has already played with: 'I've got pace and skill and I'm a creator as much as a goalscorer. I love a one-on-one with a defender and going past them.'

The 28-year-old has wanted to play in the premier league for sometime and he will now be given this opportunity - lets hope that he is worth it, he certainly talks the talk, now lets see him walk the walk...

we're signing players faster than i can type at the moment... boeting has just signed too! As for dindane... brilliant signing. or at least, he said all the right things in his interview.

Hallelujia. I thought we'd lost this won but if he can utilise his strength and pace, Dindane could be the difference between staying up or going down. Pigeon, Dindane and Zaki sounds like an exciting line-up.

Interesting.. Twas only 2 days ago that a £4m perm deal had been 'agreed'. Nevermind, good we got him, even on loan. Should be a good addition for us. Hopefully he will play well (again) with Belhadj.
.Andrew.
In fact sign a couple of defenders, Guitterez, Zaki, and I think we could actually be half-decent.
stillthewhizz
We won't get Guitterez, he's injured himself, out for a while.

I think Dindane is only on loan because we still owe money to lens for Roadrunner(Belhadj). At least with a loan if he's no good then we'll just let him go. PUP!

it's a "try-before-you-buy" - so we have an option to buy him if (when) he proves himself. I think we do still need zaki (or someone like him), as we need a target man, that will score goals, then we have a very very nice looking forward line. As it is, we can still play some very quick, free-flowing attacking football with utaka, piq and dindane... and hopefully with boeting in midfield, we could actually start winning games. Our team seems to have improved massivly over the day. HOWEVER - our defence now has a massive hole in it.

i dunno carpet (about the defence) wilsons done a good job recently so him and kaboul in the middle with borre (finan when fit) to the right and belhadj on the left. Ok so its not amazing but its not bad either, but i agree we need to strength i just don't think its AS bad as some people are making it out to be.

Stick Linvoy back in defence!!!

pompeym@... wilson has been solid... but he's injured at the moment! In theory, when herman is fit, he can also play central defence... however he isn't fit. which means our team to play man city could have pretty much anyone in! (joel ward...)
