Brown returns to Pompey

The Pompey Site has confirmed that Michael Brown has returned to the club after we agreed to sign him from Wigan.

The 32-year-old has signed a 2-year contract, with the option of another, for an undisclosed amount much to Paul Hart's 'delight': 'Michael's a player who has shown he can perform at this level.

'He's very combative and someone I've admired for many years.

'When he was playing for Sheffield United and I was managing Nottingham Forest he was a player you didn't want to come up against.

'He'll add plenty of quality and steel to our side.'

I have got to admit I am not overly impressed by this signing to be honest, as I am not sure what he will give us what we do not already have but I will of course give him the benefit of the doubt and at least give him a chance - so welcome back Michael...

Combative = Dirty. I hope that any steel that he is adding is not in the form of pins in people's legs.

what about Boetang and O'Hara ?
southportpompey
Southport be patient! As soon as we know you will know. There are other players reported to be in discussions with the club at the moment.
eastneydave
He did play four games for Pompey back in 1999/2000. We did not score a single goal in those games and picked up only one point!
eastneydave
well aparently boetang is all but done but i don't know about o'hara and does anyone know what happened to the dindane deal that was supposedly done about monday? lol
pompeym@
Dindane was done, but not dindane aint done anymore? read somewhere Pompey still owe Lens for Belhadj, so want that Money, and then Dinadnes money before they sign it off, but he has refused to go anywhere else, opting to sit on the bench if need be, so if true we should still get him :-)

Brown is a thug, we already have an axe and a couple of leg choppers why do we need a thug
russellm
he is great i loved him at wigan, sad to see him go
lathamwafc
Blimey that's 96 midfielders.

Saw him when he was on loan, allthose years ago. Was great for Sheff Utd in the season that saw us get promoted as champions. What he now lacks in pace & skill he makes up in dirty tackles & will spend most of the season suspended. Not the best choice we couild have made. Happily be proved wrong.

just out if intrest... as an acadamy director, why has Hart been admiring him for years? slightly odd/creepy if you ask me...
pompeycarpet
wigan fans are all very complementory about him though. I'm slightly concerend though that we really don't need another combative/defensive midfielder.
pompeycarpet
Yes it looks like we are going to fight our way to safety. Plenty of red cards and injured opponents!! I do hope not.
eastneydave
Looks like the end of the line for Basinas and Muggins.
stillthewhizz
So there is a plus side to signing Brown, we get rid of Muggins!!...Bonus.
pentonpompey
Paul Hart has said in an interview that if we get the players in that have been targeted then we will have a 'comfort blanket'. Doesn't mean Brown will start every week, just means we have cover in all positions, especially in a defensive midfield role!!!

unhappy at first..but 2nd thoughts..and see him addding some bite
