Captain Mokoena?

Captain Mokoena?

With Sylvain Distin finally admitting that he wants out - do not let the door hit you in the arse on the way out, with him now all but an Everton player, this means that we need a new captain...

In all honesty I do not think that we have that many candidates jumping out at us.

Of course David James has the experience and commands respect, but for me I do not like a keeper as the captain.

Younes Kaboul has the apparent commitment and has captained France at U21 level - so is a prime candidate, although for me his problem, which I hope is behind him, is staying fit...

The Herminator without a doubt has the quality, the experience and the passion to be a captain but I am not sure if he will be a regular first choice pick to be honest?

Then we have new boy Aaron Mokoena. The guy has years and years of experience of captaining South Africa - he has a wealth of experience as it is and to be fair has really said the right things since his arrival. His attitude has been top class and I also think he has proven a better quality signing than most would have thought - yep he is limited as to what he does but what he does he does very well.

For me, and maybe not something that all would agree with, I would go for Mokoena to be honest.

But who would you go for, I guess more to the point who do we think Paul Hart will go for?

Can't looke very far beyond the Axe or Kaboul as you've suggested. If Hughes was a regular starter he'd be in with a shout maybe.

I don't know who would be the best leader on the pitch, but kaboul reflects the type of player i would like to see the club reach out for. young, talented and willing. Mokoena is in danger of being old, and past it...without the talent.

Dont go for the Axe.. as a Rovers fan, watching him for years, he is too inconsistant, and making him your captain will mean he cannot be dropped, in my position, id go for kaboul. Good luck for the season, and i hope you dont go down, (rather you than rovers of corse :D)

Sounds like we shouldn't "Do the Mokoena" PUP.

No matter what we think right? I would love to see Kaboul as captain as he seems to have everything to fulfil all the boxes required. However, James deserves the band. But Hart will choose Mokoena. Hughes wasn't given the band against the bulls and he started the match.

So far what I have seen of him, I ain't impressed. I wouldn't have him on the pitch let alone captain. Just goes to show how far we have fallen.

Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.
