Captain Mokoena?

With Sylvain Distin finally admitting that he wants out - do not let the door hit you in the arse on the way out, with him now all but an Everton player, this means that we need a new captain...

In all honesty I do not think that we have that many candidates jumping out at us.

Of course David James has the experience and commands respect, but for me I do not like a keeper as the captain.

Younes Kaboul has the apparent commitment and has captained France at U21 level - so is a prime candidate, although for me his problem, which I hope is behind him, is staying fit...

The Herminator without a doubt has the quality, the experience and the passion to be a captain but I am not sure if he will be a regular first choice pick to be honest?

Then we have new boy Aaron Mokoena. The guy has years and years of experience of captaining South Africa - he has a wealth of experience as it is and to be fair has really said the right things since his arrival. His attitude has been top class and I also think he has proven a better quality signing than most would have thought - yep he is limited as to what he does but what he does he does very well.

For me, and maybe not something that all would agree with, I would go for Mokoena to be honest.

But who would you go for, I guess more to the point who do we think Paul Hart will go for?

Can't looke very far beyond the Axe or Kaboul as you've suggested. If Hughes was a regular starter he'd be in with a shout maybe.

HEY MOKOENA!!! or YK
russellm
herman 1st choice, kaboul 2nd.
ruffcider
I don't know who would be the best leader on the pitch, but kaboul reflects the type of player i would like to see the club reach out for. young, talented and willing. Mokoena is in danger of being old, and past it...without the talent.
pompeycarpet
herminator first choice i would play him centre back too next to kaboul with belhadj and wilson either side.. players will listen to him and fans love him.
pompeyhussler
Don't forget Mullin's lol!
dazza0410
Dont go for the Axe.. as a Rovers fan, watching him for years, he is too inconsistant, and making him your captain will mean he cannot be dropped, in my position, id go for kaboul. Good luck for the season, and i hope you dont go down, (rather you than rovers of corse :D)
rover23
Sounds like we shouldn't "Do the Mokoena" PUP.
NorfolknBlue
No matter what we think right? I would love to see Kaboul as captain as he seems to have everything to fulfil all the boxes required. However, James deserves the band. But Hart will choose Mokoena. Hughes wasn't given the band against the bulls and he started the match.

So far what I have seen of him, I ain't impressed. I wouldn't have him on the pitch let alone captain. Just goes to show how far we have fallen.
storagematt
got to be kaboul for me, specially after the interview he did a week ago (or so)

what about BROWN !!! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH *****
pompeyhussler

Kaboul for me.

Captain Nugent get's my vote.
.Andrew.
Kaboul for me. But then I would never have made Distin captain in the first place, so Paul Hart probably will probably do something completely different. So long as it's not Utaka or Mullins though, eh.
PhilTaglia
omg......u guys gotta be jokin!!!! THE AXE, captain!!! Listen, i dont care how much trouble ur in u cant be that desperate!!! He is gash!! Hope u dont end up playin him at cb wi all urs bein sold??? Even worse than CM.....arghhhh i feel soooo sorry for u guys, u deserve better!!!
mani13963
There is also the captain of Greece, but i dont know if he is premiership quality.. if this were my team i would look to bring in a commanding presence, but then they dont come cheap.. Its a real difficult question
nodster
Kaboul or the Iceman for me. Kaboul would get the nod because he is more likely to feature more, but if HH could keep fit, I'd rather him. No-one would disagree with him.
PompeyFrippy
Give it to Niko
TeddyLyon
Herman if he was a regular but, if not, Kaboul.
NinjaTim
Hermann for me; a real sleeves up let's get at 'em player and a top bloke off the field
UKTony
Don't give the armband to Niko, That'll slow him down even more!! Kaboul is the Man
BarneyArmy
Kabooouuull - if the Herminator is not going to play (which I am presuming would be due to injury)
Pompeyscum
What about Michael Brown? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho
Et_tu_Pompeii
When he was captain for the Hereford game, he did well. Also he is the captain of South Africa which isnt bad, i think Pompey should make him captain, he could be good as that.
PompeyFcMad
Jamie O'Hara - get in.
stillthewhizz
not really sure about this one... but then there is limited other option available... may be there should be a vote on this
