Distin, Williamson & Brown

Distin, Williamson & Brown

The ins and outs at Pompey continue

Sounds like a firm of Estate Agents in North End does it not?

Well it has certainly been a busy few hours in the life and transfer times of Portsmouth Football Club.

The latest news sees our current skipper Sylvain Distin pass a medical to become a Toffee, a bid for another Hornet, Mike Williamson supposedly rejected despite the player wanting to leave and ex-Spur, Blade, Cottager, Latic and Pompey loanee Michael Brown in talks to return to Fratton Park.

Distin will obviously be a loss but if a player wants to go what can you do .. Well say 'no' as Watford have done with defender Williamson but surely everybody and every club have their price so it might yet transpire that the ex-Saint (another one!) joins as a squad player ..
Surely he would be no more than cover would he?

More exciting is the prospect of Michael Brown, a player with a 'never say die' attitude and something that we have all said we wanted to see - I'm just thankful that Sean Davis has moved on as I still remember that two-footed April fool challenge in 2006 that earned Brown a Red card .. No hard feelings Sean.... Still it's not like we are due to play Bolton any time soon is it !

So what are your thoughts on these supposed movements?

Can we cope without Dist?

Who will replace him as Skipper .. Mokoena? James? Mullins!

Is Williamson worth fighting for?

Is Brown the kind of player you would like to see wear our shirt?

Will I get through the next 5 days?

from what I gather, michael brown is; a) a done deal, and b) a massive thug that would disgrace our shirt. That's only what I've heard though... so i'd be happy to give him time.

Michael Brown is no angel that's for sure but neither is he a Joey Barton.. That said he has had more than his fair share of bad press .. Davis, Giggs, Ashley Cole, Alonso and the (in)famous Battle of Bramall Lane ... actually come to think of it .. he is more of a Ben Thatcher than a Matt Taylor .. Thug?.. yep I think you are right

the brown thing is very bad, we really dont need another tough tackling midfielder. if the rest of the league realise that niko and belhadj are our only attacking threat, other than the lone forward we are in trouble....... tommy smith is a risk but at least he knows which direction the ball goes.

all I have to say is do not let the door hit you in the arse on the way out mr distin...
being club captain should be an honour, you have shown yourself for what you really are - and this is why i had you down as the man i most wanted to leave over the summer as i think it was pretty clear to see for most of last season you wanted out.

Williamson is really highly rated amoungst the watford fans and they think that they wount accept a bid less than 4m. plese dont spend 4m on him hart . huth was 5m and taylor about 6-7m

Yeah I just read that aswell hussler,i commented after you,I still say we are buying for the championship.

We need cover but not at more than £1m surely

I am very disappointed about Distin. It would have been better if he did not start the season at all. And, by the way, another defoe-style-farewell. Injured in the last game???? Since when is Distin missing games carrying an injury????

As I think we all know by now Oxlade-Chamberlain is the son of former Pompey winger Mark Chamberlain and the brother of Arsenal's & England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Cook - Notts County another tough game

Pompey's form at Fratton has been impressive this season with our home return coming against Notts County off the back of wins at Leyton Orient and a point at Plymouth last Saturday.
