SAF claims AAA Ltd are the new owners?

SAF has 'claimed' that Al Fahim Asia Associates Ltd (AAA) are now officially the new owners of Pompey, or at least a statement from his spokesman on Arabianbusiness.com has...

UAE tycoon takes 100% control of Portsmouth FC.

The statement said: 'Devondale Investments, the current owner of Portsmouth FC, and Al Fahim Asia Associates Ltd. (AAA), a company fully owned by Sulaiman Al Fahim, Chairman of the Board of Portsmouth FC, have reached an agreement whereby AAA has become the new sole owner of the Club.

'Sulaiman Al Fahim welcomed this agreement and looks forward to helping the Club build on its impressive history and achieve new successes in the Premier League.

'The Chairman of the Club would like to extend his gratitude to the players, staff and supporters of Portsmouth FC who have shown an extraordinary level of commitment and loyalty to this great Club.'

This is all very well, which if true means that Peter Storrie's 'plan B' has failed, but lets hear something official from The Pompey Site.

Official news is what we need - no more messing around!

This sounds very dodgy to me I'm wondering if the deal has been done behind Storries back,by a man who, i suspect, does not have Pompeys best interests at heart
yellowcheesemonkey
Well it is in The News, The Gaurdian, and CNN now. Not sure what to make of it as PS has been saying that money will become available in January through his deal? Come on Pompey what is going on.
sneakay
agreed, Im underwhelmed.. this seems a but dodgy to me
pfcadz
It's like Dallas isn't it! All we need now is a Oil Baron's Ball and it'll be like TV in the seventies.
hammersmithblue
and meanwhile, Pompey's press office is full of swearing and sweating I expect
hammersmithblue
Whilst I am a bit underwhelmed at the news, nevertheless, we have been stabilised, I suppose. Definitely did not want Al ahim as our new owner, but Thursday was apparently the deadline for the Banks apparently, so beggars can't be choosers. I bet Peter Storrie is feeling a bit underwhelmed himself right now. Could this be the end for him at Pompey?
Gandor1
Jackastorrie has been including SAF for a while so I guess he knew he couldn't do the deal without him. Also what makes yellowcheesemonkey suggest SAF doesn't have Pompey at hart; hart enough to put up 32million of cash up font to guarantee the debt Storrie ran up; still, yet more to come I suspect .
russellm
We Want the Truth!!!! We can handle the truth!
nodster
if its true then almost definatly gandor!
pompeym@
My concern here is that the "official site" has not been used to tell FANS the details first or indeed a "Press Conference" utilised as has been done in the past. Even the "Quay" official mouth piece of Pompey have nothing. If this is how the new owners do business, coupled with the last few months of ridicule, I feel no warm feeling inside that things are going to be improving ! ( I hope I'm wrong ). Also, hope Pompey do NOT get rid of PS, much maligned but undoubtedly has the clubs interest at heart.
BarneyArmy
Correct me if I'm wrong but the one consistent voice was AlF and his " the take over is progressing" so I think the chap needs a fair chance; I'm a bit surprised about the attitude of people who don't seem to realise the mess the club was truly in
russellm
we do realise the mess, but he hasnt done things as smoothly as he suggests, thats flippen obvious
nodster
I've got a feeling that Hart won't last very long now.. Was also thinking the Storrie thing was just a "thing" to get Al fahim to pull his finger out. Gives us some stability!
.Andrew.
I realize the mess the club was in. I also realize that AlFahim made that mess a lot worse over the past couple of months. At the very least, he has a lot of work to do to repair that damage.
PhilTaglia
Russell, Good point mate. None really knows what's been happening but SAF (or his spokesmen) have been consistent.
NinjaTim
It's official when it's on the OS (or the BBC) and not before. There could be some high stake games being played here
UKTony
lets look at this..A A Associates....I guess PS other player is the Associate...so lets hope he is a rich one...
plymouth graham
Could'nt give a fig who owns us now - let's get some bleeding players in!!!
PFCGino
Tony has a point especially if the banks are closing in tomorrow. Could merely be a deflection but then have to agree with Russell that SAF has always played the straight bat that it would go ahead.

Why no official statement now nearly 90 minutes after the SAF statement?
eastneydave
why do i feel that this is still not over.... has he sacked storrie...no he's teamed up with him..or did storrie play a bluff game with a mysterious imaginary friend
plymouth graham
Its Offical OS statement http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/index.php?cms_id=78&qs_articleid=2775&qs_media=html
PompeyFcMad
It's hard to get excited about this, after 3 months of what can only be described as a farce. I've mentioned before I couldn't care less who takes over as long as they can provide us with financial stability, and if they have a bit more, then that's a bonus. Saffy fits the bill, and if this is true, I welcome him with open arms.
PompeyFrippy
Well, the advert on the Quay did run along the lines of 'You won't want to miss the thrills and spills of the coming season...' Personally, I was hoping for an utterly boring season in the top 4...lol... With a bit of luck we shall know more soon...or maybe not...who knows?
Pennymoon
Its official however he's the only Arab with NO MONEY! Will Mr Stories guy still invest? WTF is going on?????????????????????????????????????????
tommo3146
I am sooooo deflated and underwhelmed by this.....Dr Frickin Potless. The only Arab who doesn't own a Petrol station let alone an Oil field!
pentonpompey
Well what an anti-climax ! I look forward to the Footy Hour tonight to see if we can put some meat on the bones of the skeleton that is Pompey at present! I think the "Z" shift must be on the press section/web masters. Re-hashing an earlier statement with no clear message to the fans on whats happening, and surely the Chairman can now state that he's the owner, to give it a bit more clout!? I am in no way appeased by these statements and feel the Club and its owners owe us supporters and bit more guidance that this - They are showing about as much leadership as our Club Captain !!!!
BarneyArmy
Who has said he has no money.?!
.Andrew.
i ahte to say it but this could be too little too late. i hope not but i genuinely fear for you guys and believe me there are at leats 3 more teams more deserved of relegation! Good luck
whitey0372
The club website is down at the moment but it's on the BBC...http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8222718.stm
NinjaTim
I'M EXCITED :)
Pompeyscum
Story pulled from official website LOL
tommo3146
It's back up there now!
NinjaTim
Guys, SAF is seriously wealthy. Doesn't mean he wants to throw it all away on a football club first chance he gets!
pompeysloth
Before Strorrie mentioned his plan B, in which Al Fahim was very much involved, everybody was hoping that Al Fahim takes over. So how come now we are suspecting him??? He is wealthy and will get us stability. I fear Hart will be replaced very shortly since he commented against Al-Fahim.
Pompey Malta
Story still not back up for me!! LOL lets hope we get more news soon!
tommo3146
The official site seems to say the deal is done and AAA are now in control. Just hoping for the best and we can get a few decent players. So far Hart's buys don't fill me with confidence.... PUP
Fratton del Sol
Paul Hart has a transfer kitty of 3.56p found on the North stand floor after last nights match this is believed to have fallen through a hole in Paulsmouth's pocket.
Steve C
Is this why there is no official word on Smith and Dindane yet ?
southportpompey
I'm prepared to go 50/50 and help out the club. I've got 3.56 with Paul Harts name on it - this will enable us to buy another class player (the sort we're currently bringing in). I'll stick it in the obligatory brown envelope. Please confirm I don't have to submit to the fit-and-proper person test !
BarneyArmy
well, to be anything but excited would be quite unfair to al fahim. He IS rich, and hopefully he WILL invest. I have nothing to suggest otherwhys. Sasha always said he wouldn't sell to someone who didn't have pompey at hart, and didn't mind selling for less, if it left pompey doing better. If he thought storries consortium would be better for the future of porsmouth city fc, i'm sure he would have sold it to them. One thing I don't like though, is that it's not been released on the official site. still, Sulaimen has untill tuesday next week to prove he means buisness.
pompeycarpet
Well the OS did have a statement posted earlier. That has since been REMOVED !!!! Just looked again, and it's no longer there? Tune into the Quay tonight at 1730hrs and hopefully MM and the gang will have some news. Ahhh its never a boring time being a Pompey fan! This just makes us look more farcical in my opinion. Come on OS webmaster, call the A Shift in and give us some news !!!
BarneyArmy
Good thing with SAF is he CAN invest, as has the money. He can also invest in a new stadium, and being a property developer, i'd imagine he has many contacts who would come in and develop the stadium & design it. Problem i saw with Storries offer was there were too many people behind the scenes, so many arguments would arise.
.Andrew.
I want my 3.56 back!!
paultsmouth
Statement has definitely been pulled -anyone who can still see in has a cached version on their computer Sacha is now listed as chairman again on the OS You couldn't make it up
yellowcheesemonkey
Site is down, down, down.
stillthewhizz
HAHA paul, no chance theres a reason SAF is rich :P but on a more serious note who the hell knows anymore i can't even get on the site atm.... /sigh guess we'll see by the end of the year....
pompeym@
I'm bemused by people saying he's rich, there's very little evidence that he has two pence to rub together. If you read through all the statements relating to his business where he claims to of made $2 billion in sales in the first year it doesn't fill you in confidence, he's got down payments on uncompleted properties that he's now asking for more money for, the UAE royal family are apparently going to have to help bail out his company and he's off buying a premier league club. Just cos he's taken all that business doesn't mean he's going to turn a massive profit on it. The fact that the story still isn't on the official site I find odd as well. I really hope i'm wrong but I can't drum up any enthusiasm over this at all. Maybe it will all come good, here's hoping.
stooH
SSN are discussing it and they say that Al Fahim hasn't completed the deal - he's just exchanged contracts and it could still take another 2 weeks. FFS!
tracyc
Just checked the OS and it is still down. I'm getting really sick of this.
tracyc
Statement was put on the official site at 2.52pm & is still there now, but what is strange is nothing from Storrie, its been said he is as surprised as us?
pompeyyong
OS has it back on now. Listening to PS on the QUay and it seems that Sacha stabbed him in the back when he was due to meet and finish the deal with him! SAF is now the man apparently, well they've exchanged contracts.....lets just see if he delivers the money. PS sounded well gutted, and I must admit, I hope he stays at the club! Come on SAF if you've got the juice, front up and give us some leadership !!!!
