Distin 'expresses desire to leave?'

Pompey have been rocked by the news that Sylvain Distin has 'expressed a desire to leave' the club.

Paul Hart told The Quay that he had a nasty gash ahead of the league cup win but the club captain is also said to have expressed a desire to leave amid a 'reported' interest from Everton.

Some way for the club captain and actually captain to act isn't it! Why leave it until the end of the transfer window to decide this!

As far as I am concerned 'if' he wants out, let him out as it will not help us one iota keeping him if he does not want to be here - I just wish that he had decided this sooner rather than later, although his showing against Arsenal was not exactly a man that looked like he saw a long-term future at the club...

I had wanted him to leave as I questioned his commitment, then I was happy that he was staying as I felt we needed him, but 'if' - as said - he wants out we need to get him out really do we not?

Defoe has the flu just before he left. Almost certain that Distin is gone now. :( As long as we replace him (take note Hart)!

I said after the Arsenal game that we should cash in on him. His head was down for the whole game and you could see he didn't want to fight for the shirt. Even when there were murmurs of trouble at the club, think this time last season, he was opening his gob about leaving. Good riddance. Where we find a replacement though I don't know.

I was shocked we sold Cranie, he wanted first-team football and didn't figure in Hart's plans. I thought a loan would have been better but who am I to make these decisions. As for Distin wanting to leave, if the price is right, let him go. If he doesn't want to play for the club, I don't want him playing for the club. I just we don't let him go for any less than 5 million, as he is a quality player.

I think the club owners have to stand their ground here; he has a contract make him honour it; first team or reserves i dont care but storrie needs to show something for all his talk now!

What will that solve though? He's got a year left and he'll be happy to run it down if we throw ultimatums his way. There is no loyalty in football, get 4.5m+ and get him gone. We need committed fighters and if Distin is, he'll have to come out and say it.

Well Ive said it all along that he would probably go and that if he wantred to. then good riddance. he's good...but not that good...We'll be OK, of this I am sure-sort of. My wife was saying that she thinks this takeover is another scam and some bloke will be announced next week after the window shuts and cant be asked to strump up transfer cash...I hope she is wrong.

Distin wants to leave, so let him leave. There are many others who can come in a do a job. Remember lads, we have Mokoena who captains his South Africa from the back. Besides, we have too many defensive midfielders to replace him. Maybe we see more of Basinas and this move will prove to be successful. But Hughes is shouting to get into the side, and Hart is smiling!

100% the fault of Hart and the club for me. It was obvious half of last year that he couldn't care less about the club, and he should have been the first player shown to the door in the summer. But no, he wanted to stay around in case there was a nice fat cheque coming his way from new owners. Only when that doesn't emerge does he ask to leave. And with typical lack of foresight, we've already sold Cranie. I blame Distin only to the extent that I blamed him last year. This was eminently predictable. The media (who apparently get everything wrong) were saying he was going to go all summer long and the club just buried their heads in the sand and pretended it wouldn't happen. To the point of even selling a decent replacement. Six days left of the transfer window and our list of desperate needs is now even longer.

Ever since his "I did not come to Portsmouth to fight for salvation" speech in The News, I have realised he wanted to go. Why did the Club not realise this. The man is a prima donna - get rid.

He showed off after the Arsenal match - shame he didn't care enough to try harder. Nope, sod off, Sylvie, we don't need players like you. Anyway, Kaboul is better than you already.

According to the Times we are after Tal Ben-Haim & Jamie O'Hara on loan from Man City and Tottenham respectively. The Ben-Haim capture would signal the exit for Distin but both would be EXCELLENT signings for us. Could we somehow get Armand Traore back? He's third choice left back at Arsenal - say 3m bid with large sell-on clause?

If reports are to believed the Dr has finally concluded his buy out of the club. Paul hart is supposed to get a war chest so i'd keep Distin, even while he ran his contract down at City he was a playing matches for them, i think that he would continue to play to his ability. Astonsteve sorry to dissapoint you but he seems to like blue shirts.

whitey0372 enjoy it while it lasts, Redknapp will screw your club up by tearing up the wage structure and over spending the same as he's done everywhere else.

IF Al Fahim has really completed the buy-out, perhaps Distin can be persuaded to stay - at least until January? On the other hand, if it does turn out to be more smoke and mirrors about the buy-out, I wouldn't blame Distin if we didn't see his heels for dust.
