Pompey man of the match against Arsenal

'Nadir Belhadj was the man of the match against Arsenal', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I do not totally agree with to be honest...

Yep, Belhadj certainly had a decent game - defending a lot better than he has been and also getting forward well, as well as putting in some pretty telling balls including the ball from which Younes Kaboul scored.

Although I could not really look any further than David James myself, as had it not been for him we would have let in more than the 4 goals that we did. That said Belhadj did offer us something going forward...

James, Kaboul and Belhadj all had good games, as did a number of players to be fair - I think that Aaron Mokoena and John Utaka were probably both worth more than their 1% and I cannot quite understand how Niko Kranjcar managed 4%!

  • What the poll asked - Man of the match against Arsenal?

  • How you voted - Belhadj 30%, Kaboul 23%, James (75) 22%, Piquionne 17%, Kranjcar 4%, Mokoena 1%, Utaka 1%, Wilson (69) 1%, Sub - Vanden Borre (69) 1%, Sub - Begovic (75) 0%, Sub - Nugent (68) 0%, Distin 0%, Mullins 0%, Kanu (68) 0%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Yeeees, but you could argue that, had Begovic been in goal for the whole match, he would have saved the shots jamo did AND some of the shots he didn't. Who knows. It's nice to be positive anyway and poor Nadir needs us to say nice things about him. PS: Am I the only one who thinks James could have done better with one or two of the goals . . . . churlish, I know.

As an Arsenal supporter that attended the game I thought James played very well, especially in the 1st half. I thought personally that your best outfield player was Piquionette who looked very lively. I think you could have a good player on your hands there if he gets decent service.

ive only seen the goals as they happened, still not seen any highlights - but for me james could certainly do nothing for goals 1,2 and 4 in my opinion and i think gallas' more hit him than him hitting it?

Piquionne caused us problems all match, if he can get the right service (i.e. if Kranjcar can be arsed), you've got a good striker there. His movement was very good- but he'll need help.

Cream of the Crap??? The only true premier league standard player we have is Jamo. Distan's head goes with too much responsibility, and he has to lead the back 4 right now. Wilson, lack of pace. Kranjcar......nuff said. Belhadj a willing trier, but not stable enough. Piquinne, as someone else said shades of Benji and will take just as long to score, Mullins....Utaka....

Well done Billy Belhadj. There are definitely different opinions on the performance on Saturday but no doubting the result. Let's move on to future battles.

It's hard to give any of the defenders a man of the match for that performance but Belhadj looks like our only attacking player at the moment. We need him to be playing left midfield so that we can afford his attacking runs.

James could only be at fault for the third goal. He should have done something before the ball hit Gallas, but he had a great game, and he got my vote.
