Double Ivorian deal?

News that Aruna Dindane is 'going to sign for Pompey' is something that has become pretty strong, and more than 'gossip' - this deal is 'expected' to be announced anytime, with some 'reports' saying that he was at the game at the weekend?

Sky sports is reporting that 'Pompey have agreed a deal with his club Lens, and the transfer should be finalised shortly,' with it also said that they 'understand' the striker has been offered a 2-year contract with the option of a further year.

Again, according to sky sports and what they 'understand', Dindane's Ivory Coast international teammate Steve Gohouri could join him at Pompey?

The defender is 'said 'to be set to undergo a trial this week, arriving on Sunday night, and 'will hope to impress Hart enough to earn a deal.'

Another defender would not go a miss, but this is the week were we seriously need to look at bringing in offensive, and not that many defensive, options...

No 'serious' concern for James...

Paul Hart has said that the latest knee problem that David James has picked up is not connected with his previous knee injury - it is the same knee but a different problem...

James will go for a scan today but Hart feels it is nothing more than 'bone bruising' after a knock to this in the defeat at Birmingham last week.

He probably would not have played in the league cup game tomorrow anyway but this is now a definite with either Asmir Begovic continuing or Antti Niemi given his Pompey debut?

Either way, we just have to hope that this is nothing serious and he can return for the game against Citeh on Sunday, as I suspect whoever is in goal will be very busy...

Let's get some signings in. A covering defender will be a good move as long as it does not suggestthat Distin may leave, but attacking and creative players are key this week.

No problem to get defensive cover for me. We need that since all our defensive players are getting injured. For instance, if we had Belhadj playing at left midfield on Sat and Hreidarsson behind him, we would have been better as the Algerian was in a fantastic attacking mood! Dindanne, no question, very good signing it would be. I f we had to have Piqqy as right mid, Belhadj as left mid and Zaki + Dindanne upfront it would be lovely.... and it is not only a dream this yeah!!??? it could happen soon.

niemi wont play v hereford as his wrist has gone . But on the transfer side it looks good dindane will hopefully band in goals and he has pace too. That one on trial is very useful he can play as striker , rb or cb.

It all sounds good, but i don't think it will be as magical as you expect, Pompey Malta. I think, y'know, it seems like we're getting some decent players but I think it won't quite work as well as we think.

About freakin' time. Baptista to Pompey? This window is getting interesting.

Isn't Kranjcars job to be the creative outlet in the team? To be honest I'd sell him and use the revenue for players who actually want to play and prove themselves, not just assume they will move on to a bigger club. Diarra certainly took nothing for granted and played his socks off when at Pompey. I think Kranjcar needs to take a step back and look at his performances and ask himself does he really deserve a move to a big club, at the moment he definately does not!

We won't get Baptista, there are much bigger clubs in the way before he'd sign for us. I read reports last week of Inter being interested in his signature and we are not fit to compete with them or the wages he will command. Dindane is what we need but as others have already said he won't be much use come January. Neither will Zaki if he joins.
