Match Day Live - Arsenal v Pompey

Match Day Live - Arsenal v Pompey

Pompey's third game in eight days sees the boys visit The Emirates to face Arsenal. Kick-off is 3pm. Join us here on Vital Pompey to discuss the game as it unfolds

Arsenal to slaughter Pompey lambs, Wengers boys to rip Hart out of Pompey, Pompey to be put to the sword … Jeez I've read it all this morning.

I think don't think any of us really expect anything out of this afternoons encounter but if we stand any chance at all of grabbing a lucky point it'll be due to Arsenals over confidence - It worries me really as they are beginning to sound a little too much like their neighbours for my liking!

So claim down you Gooners, there's a lot of respect for you guys in Pompey so if you are gonna thump us, just so some respect!

Anyway without further ado

'Stand up.. If you hate the Spurs, Stand up .. If you hate the Spurs…'

Seem that way, but after his first half performance on Wednesday I'm not that surprized to be honest - Right a quick sandwich then game on !

not that we have much choice! it's him or nugent - and nugent is definatly out of favour. VDB looked like he needs a bit of time, but will be a good signing.

I don't know quite why, but I went for a positive result - 1-1. and Paul hart has also clearly gone for a positive formation. of all the teams to go 4-4-2 against... here is an odd place to do it.

Think you are right about AVB I'm sure he'll come good .. but just wish Hart would have a bit of faith in Nuge.. Still I'm not sure whichever XI we put out today it would make much difference !

I went through several scenarios in my head, in one of them a sloppy backpass led to Freddy being brought down for a penalty in the 5th minute, straight red card for Almunia, and I still couldn't see us winning. Wooo optimism.

rather see nugent or borre on the wing with utaka uptop with freddy tbh, but i persume hart wants kanu to hold up the ball while we actually get people into the box. and carpet you can't play defensively against the gunners you'd get ripped apart!

Done Deal - Walsall compensated for Lalkovic

Milan Lalkovic has become Pompey's sixth signing of the summer. A compensation agreement with Walsall was agreed that has seen the former Chelsea winger join the Blues.

Solving that goalie quandary

I'm not sure our problem with finding a 'regular' no.1 last season was behind our failure to gain promotion from league two was it? Clearly it didn't help mind.

Pompey's attacking intent

Something Pompey (attacking intent) will look to show next season to get out of league two once and for all. Smith came in from Swindon last week but Cookie wants another striker.
