Kanu confirms he is staying

Kanu confirms he is staying

Kanu is being quoted on sky sports as saying that he is staying with Pompey this season - probably not a surprise really is it?

Last week the 30-something signed a 1-month contract, which seemed strange at the time, but had he not signed this contract he would not have been available to play a part in either of our opening games - as he did.

Now he says that everything has been 'agreed', and issues 'resolved', so he is staying for the season: 'I didn't sign it (last week) because we had some issues that we had to thrash out and the club wanted me to play. All the issues have been resolved.'

At least this is another body, seemingly, committed - now we just have to use him in the right way, which for me is from the bench but surely from the bench alongside a striker, not as the lone striker...

Whereas Jamie's Dad has told sky sports news that he is not 'plotting a move' for David James: 'I couldn't do anything with David. I think he's a great goalkeeper but he belongs to Portsmouth and we're not in the market to buy another goalie.'

That means he is interested then ;-)

James has again today been talking positively about how he feels things are going, behind the scenes, so I am more confident that staying is something that he really does want and talk of him leaving is nothing more than shabby journalism...

So we now have a strikeforce of Nugent (who is not allowed to play) Kanu (who can't run) Freddy (who is so obviusly not a lone striker) and .. er.. Oh yeah Utaka (who is not allowed to play his favoured position) .. Oh well who needs goals !

Kanu is a cheap option we couldn't turn down. He might get us an important goal, somwhere. I wonder, Chix, why did Hart keep Nugent and did not try to exchange him with Hunt if he is going to be the next Gekas at Pompey??

Probably coz he was never in the hunt for Hunt Malta. I wanna see Nugent play alongside Freddy .. but it ain't gonna happen is it .. Hart likes 4-5-1 and that's that. Nugent can not play up fron on his own.

chix - goals are over rated. what's much more important, is that everyone gets really really REALLY bored.

We could always look for another Defensive Midfielder Carps - That would up the boredom stakes.. I need all that (lack of) possession the the middle third .. can't wait for tomorrow !

True Chix, Nugent cannot play up front on his own, and I doubt if he partner Freddy. For me, simply not premiership quality!

With Harts line up of 10 outfield defenders we don't need a goalie!!

I'd like to see Kanu/Freddie up front but I'm alright with 4-5-1.
