Official statement on Storrie's consortium

Pompey have just released an official statement on The Pompey Site about Peter Storrie's consortium in talks with Sacha about taking control of the club.

It says SAF may partner them through Al Fahim Asia Associates.

The Statement read: 'A new consortium led by chief executive officer Peter Storrie is in negotiations with the owner of Portsmouth FC to buy the Premier League club.

'The group is very positive about the talks and are confident that the deal can be completed.

'Sulaiman Al Fahim may partner the new consortium through Al Fahim Asia Associates.

'The necessary Premier League regulations and requirements regarding beneficial ownership will be complied with.

'No further comment will be made by the club until any purchase is complete.'

i still think that nothing will be confirmed until after the transfer window closes, then we will see movement in janaury - in the meantime lets hope that this group can 'forward' some money to bring in a couple of players...

So SAF is "smoke & mirrors" after all, he just doesn't have the money does he! Be interesting to find out who the other investors are. I hope this isn't out of the frying pan into the furnace.

Put it this way, if Storrie is involved in "talks" he already knows what Sacha wants, he already knows what needs to be done, and you can guarantee he has already agreed everything with Sacha! He is our non-executive Chairman, he has overseen everything so far, I reckon the "handshake" is all done and wouldn't be surprised if the f&p test is already underway, should breeze it really, he is already in the office!

Although it is good to finnaly here of some truth to 'this over consortium' I still am not entirly happy with this outcome. 'A consortium heaeded by peter storrie'... I do give him credit for keeping us going at times but when it come to the proper crunch times for me, peter storrie just doesn't have what it takes to lead our club. I liked the SAF's plans, it was the stability we needed, with PS at the helm I'm sure what direction we will go. Am interested to know who his backers are though. PUP

As far as I can see Storrie is doing all in his power to keep this club functioning! He's been in a horrible situation for a good year now, but is obviously ready to do as much as he can to keep us safe! I think he's a real fan of this club, yep, he's maybe not told us enough on ocations, but sometimes I think we all need to sit back and remember we're all after the same thing, and thats a succesful club! Get in there Storrie!!! I'm right behind you!!!

They already know we have waited very patiently and I also take take the clubs statement as a deal is imminent, they are not going to risk the wrath of the fans by keeping us waiting another 6-8 weeks, the more us fans get *****ed off the less likely we will be in turning up on matchdays,(well some fans anyway),plus it affects other income such as shirt and merchandise sales,we are short of a few bob as it is so they cant afford for the fans to revolt can they, its a done deal, storrie hinted as much,"wait and see, wait and see" was his words.Ywo possible investors are david dein and the german bloke.

According to other Pompey boards the consortium could be pretty staggering -11 of them so avoiding the Fit & Proper test for those with 10% +share in club Worth 50 Billion combined: 60% - Storrie Consortium 40% - German Consortium (Headed by Holger Heims) Storrie Consortium = Richard Li, Lee Shau Kee and Zhang Zhixiang German Consortium = Martin Viessmann, Stefan Quandt, Axel Oberwelland and Wolfgang Herz. Directors = Peter Storrie, Holger Heims, David Dein and Sulaiman Al-Fahim

Don't give a rats who's in the consortium (though David Dein participating does sound ridiculously far fetched). Just get it done. As for SAF. I've a hard time believing he'd be out shaking hands with fans in a parking lot off Frogmore Road on Saturday only to be disappearing in to the ether by the following Wednesday. It may be that all along, he had planned to buy the club himself now only to sell off parts to a consortium later on, but now that his back's against the wall, he's getting Storrie to "facilitate" stuff sooner rather than later. In any event and whatever we might think of Storrie, at least he's stepping up to the plate.

The SAF news was broken in May at a good time to get people to buy season tickets after a pretty hopeless season. I wonder if they knew then that he wouldn't be sole owner (obviously PS has not just phoned a few mates over the weekend to get a consortium together) but that the story was needed in order to shift ticket units.
