'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What a load of Shittu...

After the scandalous article from Alan Nixon in The Mirror recently, you know the one that contained blatant lies, I find it hard(er) to take anything that they 'report' seriously and so far - as we are more than halfway through the day and nothing has happened - their 'latest' seems to be nothing more than a pile of Shittu!

Apparently 'Bolton duo Gavin McCann and Danny Shittu will today join crisis club Portsmouth in a cut price 2m deal.'

Well, there is no sign of Gavin McCann and/or Danny Shittu rolling up at Fratton even though it is 'claimed' that 'Bolton have agreed to accept a minimal fee up front with the rest to be paid once Pompey owner Alexandre Gaydamak sells the club.'

Ok, lets say for one minute this is true, I really cannot see the merits in signing either to be honest, it is attacking players not defenders and defensive midfielder that we need!

Why do we need McCann? (Although 'he is the most likely to arrive, but no deal is in place', is something I am led to believe) We have just about enough defensive midfielders to put out a starting 11! As for Shittu, Bolton do not seem to rate him very highly so it appears he lives up to his name!

Whatever money we have, please spend this on attacking options, not a 31-year-old defensive midfielder...

Although both will make their Pompey debuts tomorrow, apparently...I think not!

Whereas The Mail has 'an exclusive' stating that David James and Sylvain Distin will be the next to leave as their 'loyalty could be stretched to breaking point' as both share 'concerns about boardroom activities at Pompey.'

Is this really anything new, Distin has been linked with moves away from Pompey all summer long - but so far we have kept him, and I would guess he is happy or he would have gone by now, right?

James was outspoken in his recent column, which 'could' be the thing that we use to decide we will let him go. Although to be fair he never said he wanted to leave as is being twisted now. That said, maybe he could learn from Aaron Mokoena who openly says that the uncertainty at the club should not make any difference to what we do on the pitch or how we think, as said yesterday - when talking about his thoughts - so long as they are getting paid copious amounts to do a job they should just get on with it!

I am not saying either wants out, or I want either out, but if players do want to go then let them go, if not they should just get on with the job they are paid to do...

Not likely (i hope), although what happened to the two signings that we were to make yesterday 'according' to Storrie?
sneakay
I don't think either will leave, and james' article wasn't exactly slating the club its was a more honest view of the people at the club and what everyone is going through and football as a whole. Tbh i enjoyed the article and its nice to see some of the professionals realise what their super high wages are doing to clubs...although i doubt it will lead to james taking a pay cut :)
Bowlsey
Good point Sneaks. Storrie said (and we heard him say this, so it's not the usual media speculation) that he would be abroad on Monday (yesterday) concluding two new signings. Like I said, if it was sponsored bull5hit, Pompey would be loaded!
NinjaTim
well i thought storries was apparently in france so how hes managing to get those two at the same time is pretty remarkable..... lol

Garbage from garbage publications - nothing more
UKTony
get DINDANE!
footy_fans
i quite like Danny *Shittu. He really isn't that bad. McCann is ok also. I'd rather have these 2 players at pompey, rather then a squad thinner then Arjen Robben's hair. James & Distin leaving? Pah, i'll believe that when i see it. Daily Mail talk ****. They are the fools that said Maradona is on his way here.. Pahahahaha
.Andrew.
To be fair on Jamo - nothing he said was in reference to worries about himself BUT actually about his feeling awful about the amount he earnt while pompey employees weren't on much at all and were looking at possible redundancy. I thought it was simply a very honest view of what it must be like to be in the situation they are all in. I found it honest and not a bit cynical as others would twist it.
jim4pompey
I'm starting to get worried for the Chimes this season. James and Distin are getting a bit long in the tooth for the kind of defensive stress they'll get this season... Why don't you make a bid for John Terry with your new wealth?
Sindbad
I really hope this is not true. McCann is rubbish now he used to be good but he is getting older and he wont improve us. *Shittu well his name sums it up he will just be cover. STORRIE WHEN IS THIS FRENCH DUDE SIGNING ????
Football_Casual
I was amazed when Portsmouth sold Sean Davis to Bolton. That's what makes the *Shittu rumour so odd. He isn't a patch on Davis. I think you'll need someone a lot better than *Shittu or the pundits who have you down for a relegation battle will be close to the truth.
Sindbad
To add insult to injury with the Sean Davis transfer, it was for free.
.Andrew.
so old droopeys opened that gob of his about how he likes james another unsettling comment now james thinks he might need to move if he wants to play in the world cup that *****s like a leech how much more blood can that man take out of are club
sickmick
Spurs are moving into Fratton Park, apparently.
.Andrew.
maybe they still owe us money from the matt taylor and andy o brian transfers ... and we are using that to pay for them..
pompeyhussler
Hm . . A week or two ago James said he wasn't leaving. Now one of the crap papers said he will - I know who I believe! Twitchy might be trying to tap him up, but Jamo knows his own mind. So he expressed concerns about the club - whats wrong with that? He's staying, so is Distin and so is Niko.
tracyc
Well said Tracy. The crap papers and Twitchy feed off each other. Jamo was simply articulating a view that shows he's not out of touch with the real world.
NinjaTim
Title says it all really
russellm
unless a take over and decent players come in then both Distan and James will go..and sadly i really fear *****u will come in in..please no to both
plymouth graham
David James to Tottenham NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
TeddyLyon
Not McCann! I HATE HIM. I HATE HIM MORE THAN JOEY BARTON. NO HART, NO, NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Et_tu_Pompeii
Oh, and Sh1ttu is pants as well - how desperate are we, for christ's sake?
Et_tu_Pompeii
