What a load of Shittu...
After the scandalous article from Alan Nixon in The Mirror recently, you know the one that contained blatant lies, I find it hard(er) to take anything that they 'report' seriously and so far - as we are more than halfway through the day and nothing has happened - their 'latest' seems to be nothing more than a pile of Shittu!
Apparently 'Bolton duo Gavin McCann and Danny Shittu will today join crisis club Portsmouth in a cut price £2m deal.'
Well, there is no sign of Gavin McCann and/or Danny Shittu rolling up at Fratton even though it is 'claimed' that 'Bolton have agreed to accept a minimal fee up front with the rest to be paid once Pompey owner Alexandre Gaydamak sells the club.'
Ok, lets say for one minute this is true, I really cannot see the merits in signing either to be honest, it is attacking players not defenders and defensive midfielder that we need!
Why do we need McCann? (Although 'he is the most likely to arrive, but no deal is in place', is something I am led to believe) We have just about enough defensive midfielders to put out a starting 11! As for Shittu, Bolton do not seem to rate him very highly so it appears he lives up to his name!
Whatever money we have, please spend this on attacking options, not a 31-year-old defensive midfielder...
Although both will make their Pompey debuts tomorrow, apparently...I think not!
Whereas The Mail has 'an exclusive' stating that David James and Sylvain Distin will be the next to leave as their 'loyalty could be stretched to breaking point' as both share 'concerns about boardroom activities at Pompey.'
Is this really anything new, Distin has been linked with moves away from Pompey all summer long - but so far we have kept him, and I would guess he is happy or he would have gone by now, right?
James was outspoken in his recent column, which 'could' be the thing that we use to decide we will let him go. Although to be fair he never said he wanted to leave as is being twisted now. That said, maybe he could learn from Aaron Mokoena who openly says that the uncertainty at the club should not make any difference to what we do on the pitch or how we think, as said yesterday - when talking about his thoughts - so long as they are getting paid copious amounts to do a job they should just get on with it!
I am not saying either wants out, or I want either out, but if players do want to go then let them go, if not they should just get on with the job they are paid to do...
