Kanu staying for at least a month

Kanu has signed a new contract with Pompey, which will see him stay at Fratton for the next month.

The Kings current deal expired in the summer but he has always said he wanted to stay, so at least until the end of this month he will.

It is a very odd arrangement, but I would guess that this month is basically his pre-season time so if he proves he is worth a longer term deal I would expect him to sign something to take him through until Christmas?

I'm pleased to see him sign, ok he's not the prolific striker we'd all like but he's the knack of scoring important goals. There will be a lot of games this season that will need important goals scored. I'm puzzled by the 1 month contract as well as i believe he's played enough games to trigger a new 12 month deal.

If you read your Summer Toast you will know that Kanu was 33 on August 1st. How many minutes will he play in that month? That is the question.

One month.. That is silly. Unless it is a ploy to have cover until Dr SAF's takeover is complete, and then he will go out and buy David Vill............... Or just a Pompey thing. Only pompey could do this..

The cost per minute played ratio will be interesting as Eastneydave suggests.. and as for KAnu having a roll with the club.. I'd suggest Cheese & Pickle

Don't think he would be interested in a roll, I see Kanu as more of a bagel man myself. I love watching the guy and I think a month is fair just to see if he can still do it. I'm sure he can.

kanu DEFINATLY has a role to play at our club. without a doubt. Although a one month deal sounds very... odd.

love kanu, and he does score important goals and he does have control up there with the best in the world. worth a years contract but there is obviously bigger things afoot. And i for one would love him to stay on at the club once his playing days are up.
