Pompey win Impromptu Friendly

PompeyFCMad gives his take on tonights events at Privett Park as a youthful Pompey ease to a 3-0 victory

Pompey 3-0 Gosport Borough

This is going to be a short match report as I only had The Quay to rely on for info and it didn`t help that they did advert breaks in each half. Before the game good news came as The Quay announced they we be doing Pompey Live and the Football hours this season.

Antti Niemi made his debut in a very youthful Pompey side. Niemi got a run out with the intention of playing against Fulham on Saturday if Jamo doesn`t recover from his knee injury in time.

A very youthful Pompey team led by Niemi dominated the whole match which proved to be a great run out for the young players.

Matt Richie scored the first goal.

Pompey were then awarded a penalty for a foul on trialist Ashikodi who quickly picked himself up dusted himself down to score past the Nick Hutchins Gosport keeper.

Half Time Pompey 2-0 Gosport Borough.

Youngster Ryan Gazat du Chattelier blazed an easy chance late in the second half after Subotic went round the Gosport keeper and du Chattelier
Took the ball off the toe of Subotic

However late on Subotic went racing through and popped one into the bottom left hand corner and through a hole in the net to make it 3-0

Full Time Pompey 3-0 Gosport Borough

Pompey: Niemi; Hurst, Ward, Wilkinson (Tsovolos 77), Sowah; Pack, Mahoto, Kilbey; Cowan-Hall (Subotic 61), Ritchie; Ashikodi (du Chattelier 77)
Subs not used: O`Brien, Ryan, Cuvelier
Attendance: 832

Thanks for knocking this up quickly Mad much appreciated .. So a 3-0 win and a run out for the reserves I guess .. One piece of good news about The Quay and aone piece of worrying news about Neimi covering for an injured Jamo.. I'd be worried if after just 90 minutes that Niemi gets the nod ahead of Bergovic 'if' James is unavailable for Saturday..

I hope that Jamo is fit this Saturday. Although I have faith in Begovic, I would prefer Niemi to play as he has massive experiernce. Also hoping that our defence would be strong!

Went to the match, but didn't get in til late after sorting out the kids who were ball boys for the game, one thing missing though, Subotics' goal owed to a brilliant ball with the outside of his foot from Matt Ritchie from the edge of his own area, Subotic ran onto it and finished with aplomb

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.
