James Misses Out For England

James Misses Out For England

David James was one of a few names left out of Fabio Capello's England squad to face Holland this week, although this is probably understandable in many ways.

From Vital England:

Pompey keeper David James is one of the most high profile names missing from the squad but he is only just back from a shoulder operation, although The BBC says 'first-choice goalkeeper David James was left out due to a knee injury,' news of a knee injury is news to me, but there you go!

Either way I do not think his omission from this squad, after injury, is a surprise and I would still expect him to return for the world cup qualifiers next month, at least to the squad even if he did not regain the no.1 spot.

Man United's Ben Foster is expected to have the chance to shine, although West Ham's Rob Green and Blackburn's Paul Robinson are also included.

I have to say Rug I think I preffered the image you used on the Vital England site! Took me a while to start reading the story as I was strangely transfixed! ;)

Funny how we have gone from having 4 players in the England squad to 0 in the space of 8 months. Although technically Jamo should still get back in.

Jamo will be back, just you wait and see. At the end of the day the guy hasn't long undergone major surgery and Capello has obviously taken this into account. As for the knee injury, who knows. Maybe he took a knock against Rangers and wanted to play safe. I'm not sure anything has been confirmed on that, has it.

That may do us a favour providing he is still a Pompey player come Saturday. DJ is still No1 for England & will have the chance to show that again. As long as we still have him, that's all that matters!

Didn't he have an op on the knee as well over the summer? And apparently he came off against Rangers after 60 minutes because he had a problem with the knee. Although Hart is saying it was 'precautionary' and he's hopeful he'll be Ok for the Fulham game. So quite right that he didn't play for England really.

Not sure if Jamo will be fit for Saturday, let alone a England friendly.

We know Danny you want to stay!

In case we had forgot Hollands has reminded us of his desire to stay with Pompey! I'm not 'desperate' either way in many ways but sorting this quickly would be best for all concerned.

Three more pre-season games announced

'Glamour ties' are loved but pre-season is about fitness and form so it doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Bognor... Then again a trip to the Nou Camp wouldn't be turned down!

Sheffield United loanee open to Pompey return

McNulty would welcome a permanent transfer to Pompey. Although the Sheffield United striker could well be part of new manager Wilder's plans, so the chances seem 50:50 at best?
