'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Another rollercoaster ride!

Jeez, talk about another day another rollercoaster of emotions - although technically as its gone midnight this has spilled into 2 days for me!

After deciding to go to the Rangers game with my mate Richie at the last I actually thought that we were ok to be honest, blinkered views aside - although I am told it was a 'reserve' side for Rangers?

I tell you what though I was very disappointed though with what sounded like some boos from some of the crowd for Pedro Mendes? Hopefully this was not the case and I was mistaken...

Like I say I think we played ok, Freddy looked alright, and of course scored a couple of well taken goals - and I loved the fact that he pretty much went into the Fratton End after his 2nd goal, I also loved it that when he came off he gave everyone a very good ovation, a player applauding the fans like he did went down very well! More of that please will suit me fine.

Then came the news that the deal 'had fallen through!'

The journey home that Richie and I had was full of 'if's', 'and's' and 'maybe's' but once again it seemed very much one step forward two steps back...

I just hope that one way or the other that something in the next 7-days or so - and that is what I am told will be the case before it is finally resolved - will be sorted out as it is long since gone that we need this resolved. Lets, one-way or the other, reveal our fate eh!

'Based' on what I saw on Saturday, whilst not getting carried away, if we could be left with the current squad and did not have that many injury problems, based on that 'commitment' and 'effort' we will stay up, but of course a lot depends on what is actually happening with this takeover? Foolish as I am I still feel, despite the latest 'scare', this will go through...

We have been hoping for this deal, and we have been thinking that this will go through, but now they (Sascha / Gaydamak) have only one week to prove us right or wrong! Sascha needs to sell, and maybe Al-Fahim wants the club at a cheaper price and he is just pushing and pushing.

i hope your right rug i really do, but i'm beginning to struggle to stay optomistic on that situation, although i definatly agree IF we keep the bunch of players we have and without any serious injury problems we will stay up.

Where did those whole 'deal fallen through' rumour originate from? I was down the pub last night when someone randomly came out with it and spoilt my night!

I was down the park yest to and was also impressed with what I saw, very good work rate from the whole team (well except mullins) and the new guy is the flare injection we need at the momemt, let's hope he can keep it up. I do think we will stay up, there are at least 5 other teams for me that I think will be in the struggle like us. as for the takeover I'm confident it will go through (although if SAF did walk I can see why, it is a lot that he is to take on) what I can't figure out is whay SG has given SAF a weeks ultimatum, it makes no sense. Now if SAF doesn't take over SG will be in a hell of a lot more *#@& thatn he is now - debts still to pay off, administartion, docked points, a club he can't afford to run - and that could well lead to a fans riot, which I really don't want to see. So to me on the pitch I can breath easy with what I see, as for off it, guess I'll hold my breath and cross all my fingers and toes! PUP

I thought the lads played well yesterday .. OK Rangers didn't really offer much but a couple of performances impressed me Kranjcar (yes I praising him again !) looked fitter and full of running more so than any pre-season before. The three in midfield worked hard (yes including Mullins) and looked cohesive.. Utaka looked lively and Wilson shepearded by Distin and Kaboul looked pretty assured. All in all there really wasn't anything to complain about and if what we say is our Premiership starting XI then we WILL pick up points.

Bleeding Blue, I think Gaydamak just wants closure. I believe it when they say that SAF is hanging on, and on, and on, and on, and on. Maybe it is because he wants a better price, maybe it's because he needs to get more backers lined up. Either way Gaydamak wants out and SAF won't give him the option he wants. So he is simply trying to force the situation. If he walks away, well that's different - it's a dangerous game he's playing!

Not even sure if there is any truth in this one week ultimatum or not. Either way I hope they get on with it soon!

its time to sort it either way...
the thing that surprises me is 'if' there was a major doubt that this was falling through and was happening so soon why did we bring in freddie and state that the 'trio' are staying?
also why was there absolutely no indication that the deal was on the brink when i personally spoke on the phone to someone at the club on friday afternoon...
granted this is taking a hell of a long time, which is a concern but what can you do? lets just get it done either way now.
as for the game, i though all played pretty well - really thought that kranjcar was really good, all over the shop and instrumental in most things good and as chix says looks alot fitter. 'if' he has a blinding season to put himself in the shop window for next summer, so be it...

i also believe the deal will eventually go threw. i heard that sasha has a 7 day deadline for the deal to be completed witch could work for or against us. but i am for ever optomistic and believe it will threw and we can rebuilld the club and buy some decent players.

I'm not sure if the deal will go through or not,but if it doesn't then who could blame anyone for not wanting any part of the shambles that has become Portsmouth FC ? We bang on season after season about how we are the greatest and most loyal fans etc etc etc, then the club arranges a high profile friendly a week before the season, and we,the great loyal Pompey fans turn up in our hundreds to watch and support !! Less than 6,500 was a pathetic effort really, compounded by the 3,000 fans who had made the trip from Glasgow for a 'nothing' fixture that they knew before leaving, their manager would be playing an understrength team in. Now that really is a support to be proud of. I wonder how many we would have taken to Ibrox ? Time for us to put our tin hats for what is going to be a tough season to say the least, and really get behind OUR team, who knows,if we show commitment and resolve in the stands, maybe it'll rub off on some of the players. Worth a try anyway !!! Play Up Pompey

Well if you play Russian Roulette for long enough you just know that somebodies going to have to bight the bullet. If this 7 days thing turns out to be legit then at least we'll know whose gonna be the deadun.... Let's just hope that it isn't going to be PFC that takes most of the collateral damage.

I was on holiday in Egypt once and I was trying to buy a rug from an Egyptian boy who was in a Felluca alongside our Nile cruise boat. He haggled and haggled and our boat was actually moving before he did the deal. He nearly fell into the Nile trying to hand over the rug and to take his money. It was downright dangerous for him. THATS how far these people will go for sixpence. Of course, if Saffy doesn't have any money then that is a different kettle of fish.

I read the Sky Sports article too. Al Fahim's " spokesman " again and for the umpteenth time tries to reassure fans that the transaction is now in its final stages and that both parties are making efforts to complete the deal as soon as possible. This is getting old, VERY old Mr. Al Fahim. It's one thing to try to extract the best deal possible, but there are limits which when crossed do neither yourself, the club or it's fans anything but damage. Ante up the cash in accordance with (or close to) the deal you orignially struck with Gaydamak. It's sadly true that you can't trust people to do business on the basis of a handshake anymore, but the perception which is coming to light as a result of these delays is that one party is not entirely negotating in good faith and that's an odour which doesn't soon disappear. Not a good way to start your ownership of a franchise in a prestigious league dude.

Gandor: The only problem with that analogy is that the club is worth less every day that passes (because we lack players, lack quality, relegation becomes more likely, the season starts soon and the transfer deadline isn't far behind) so if it was down to haggling, he would be losing more than he stands to gain.

I've got my hopes up so many times and had them dashed so many times, from now on i'm assuming the deal will fall through then i can only be pleasantly surprised. We will never know the truth but it does appear from this long drawn out process that Dr Al Fahim may not have a great deal of money.
