'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sail on...

Latest from The News on Mark Viduka is that the Aussie is 'holding out for a better deal' from Pompey.

He wants a 2-year contract at £40,000 per week according to his agent but we have offered 'a mere' £30,000 per week on a 1-year deal - some would argue that even that is too much!

I suggest that he continue sailing around the Greek islands, or wherever it was he was off sailing...

Whilst we cannot expect to offer him 'peanuts' and get a deal I do not think that he is really in a position to be asking for 'dry roasted' as opposed to 'plain salted', Viduka either wants to play for Pompey or he does not - basically it is that simple!

And I think 'if' the 'reported' £30,000 per week really is on the table that is more than ample, right?

Clearly, at this juncture, we need players but we also need players that are not going to be looking to come in on 'big money', if big money is what Viduka is after he has a couple of hopes, and one is no hope!

Leave him on the scrap heap if he will not accept what we offer...

agreed, he can jog on

Absolutely right! I don't understand the bloke; he is rubbish at the Barcodes, forever injured and yet still believes he is worth this amount of money - unbelievable. If he had faith in his fitness, ability and desire to battle and fight for the club and a place in the team, he would accept a 'pay as you play' contract but because he's just a transported mercenary and possibly from a family of 18th century ex-cons, there is no chance of that, is there?

Get stuffed would be more appropriate. Has he not heard of our financial plight!

£30k a week !! what a waste of money - how many games did he play last year - I suggest if we are to pay him this, it is only for each week that he plays 2 first team games in that week. For each week that he is out injured and does not play, he should get sweet F.A.
terrymatth
we don't need an aussie has been who only played a handful of games last season, sign him for 40k a week and have him do a Finnan in his first game and we're up s**t creek with a cripple costing us money.keep on swimming Vid

What?? £40,000 a week? For what? I do not think that we should really try to push this anymore. We can get other strikers which are both younger and fitter with this amount of money. Even £30 is alot! As the title says, "Sail on..." dear...
Pompey Malta
Greedy bugger can go swivel for 40k. We don't need him now that we have Bopp anyway.

a fit Viduka is worth £25k by todays standards..at tops he aint fit, he never will befit, and he's old and fat..PH will probably sign him. as i said before, along with Captain Mainwaring Sgt Wilson and cp Jones
plymouth graham
He's a total C U Next Tuesday.

Cobblers to him!

there's really nothing more to add.... if he's cheaper and less mercenary go for it - given its a world cup year I see him needing us more than us him...

Never trust an Aussie with one eyebrow and his eyeballs welded together!!
pentonpompey
way too much, he's almost as expensive as Storrie

I suppose he's got to pay for his 60ft yacht or something. Why not just put him on one of those "Pay As You Play" deals, a la Michael Owen ? (with his fitness record, it wouldn't cost us more than 30 quid for the season).
Toronto4Pompey
Couldn't agree more about the 'pay as you play' deal T4P that would make the most sense surely..

If he isn't committed to our club then he can get lost. Go back to Aus and see how much he'll get paid to play football there!
