Storrie talks transfers...

In his latest interview with The News Peter Storrie talks transfers - click here...

Judging by what was said, this is where we stand?

Lee Naylor: Not much really given away - someone we have 'looked at' but with others, including the Zimbabwean trialist - more to follow - we have had, this is not looking like one we will pursue as a 'priority'... I would say rightly so all in all.

Amr Zaki: Mostly 'agent talk' apparently, although Storrie admitted that we have spoken to his agent - the 'issues' with his personality and the disrupted influence he could have seems to be a concern, is this why no one else has yet taken him on? He made reference to the Portugal 'incident' saying 'we generally have a very, very happy camp in terms of the players. It's a good relationship,' so do we want to risk Zaki rocking the boat?

Quality wise worth it - but at what price, and a price will not be paid loan wise until we know what his attitude is like and what we will get... I guess with money at a premium we cannot afford to waste it!

Onismor Bhasera: The Zimbabwean trialist mentioned above, who people have said looked 'ok.'

Seems to look like one we are trying to bring in as we have applied for a work permit so he 'could' be our left back cover but, also one for the here and now potentially - although there are 'concerns' about him being granted this permit, which we would appeal...

Mark Viduka: Someone that we have been 'heavily linked', no pun intended, with. Storrie said: 'a fit Mark Viduka is still a very, very good experienced player and this is a special year for him because he has the opportunity to captain his country in the World Cup.

'We would be fools not to want Mark here.'

So, he would 'interest us' but he is way behind on pre-season so at the moment I would imagine, from this, he is someone we would like but would look to take a look at others first?

There you have it...

In a nutshell though: Naylor - a maybe but doubtful.
Zaki - Hmmm lets see what his attitude and application is like but not looking anywhere near as 'advanced' as is claimed.
Bhasera - signing pending a work permit being granted.
Viduka - quality but lacking fitness, as always, so someone we would want but will look to others first?

Players leaving?

Will this be the next base touched on...

Wow what optimism that brings! Onion Baji could be are only signing before the strat of the season and he is a left back, where we already have two. Good work!

not really alot given away but in fairness pretty open and honest with what was said, no one fan fault him for that, can they...

and also in fairness talking about 'other teams' players' is something that i know frustrates us when jamie's dad does this, and others, so it would be unfair of us to be speaking too much about other players under contract elsewhere - if we had options for contracted players, right?

Its transfers out that are hitting the headlines at the moment, what with Distin to Citeh, Villa or Pool, and James to Sunderland?? Why?. As an aside, can't believe the way Ashdown has been treated as if James goes then surely he would be the natural successor, but according to Hart on Satrurday evening on the Quay, all he would say is that Jamie needs first team football and that they would do all they could to help his career, the inference being that it wasn't with Pompey. Shame as I rate the lad, he just needs to be playing.

I think Ashdown has problems with his back, hence Hart doesn't want to rely on him. Good shout pompey rug about players under contract. I hate it when jamie's Dad does it, so i can see why he's keeping quiet...plus we don't want blackburn/bolton coming in and stealing them from us again!
Bowlsey
Utterly disillusioned by it all. Getting rid of our best & bringing in unproven talent. At a low on the whole thing. Letting James go would be a disaster. On the current squad we will be bottom 3 up to Xmas!!!
storagematt
where is m'bami on that list ?????????? he was good player i thought and he has experience and he is a free agent ????? COME ON A GOOD PLAYER THERE AND WE AINT EVEN DONE NOTHING WITH HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a Joke...not very funny if your a Pompey fan....I guess a lot of folk gloated at the red stripers misfortunes, and now its our turn...Although Iam p$$ed off with the sales i am more angry about the quality coming in. but it is now obvious that there is NO MONEY, not a little, but NONE, However i have a nagging feeling we will have a great season so please note the date i wrote this because i am going to shout loud later inthe season.

At least Storrie is telling us how it is. We may not like it, but it's what we wanted. If he came out and said "It's all fine, don't worry" we would have people coming out with the 'Storrie-teller' stuff again. I'm glad we know more of what is happening, even if we don't like it. Not much to get excited about, but we are in the Prem. Remember that first game against Villa all those years ago? We expected nothing and enjoyed every minute.

From not taalking to the News we are now getting an outbreak of verbal diarrhoea. But it all makes sense though and goes to show how much rubbish the press and agents drag up.

I feel better knowing where we stand, even though its not looking good. Just hope it doesn't get worse, in terms of players leaving. But as for the James to Sunderland story, its one of the most ridiculous things the Sun has come out with yet.
tracyc
I hope so Tracy. I really do. Would be gutted if he did leave.
Pompeytim
..and of course there's the one he didn't mention ! If we think that's the only list the between then Neil Allen and Peter Storrie have pulled the wool over your eyes again.. Come on people he's hardly gonna spill the beans on players and agents and clubs he's planning negotiations with ... 4 mentioned three of which are without contract ..

What a whitewash this story(rrie) is. It's not even worth posting a a comment of any depth.
