Prso tips Kalinic to shine...

Prso tips Kalinic to shine...

...not that Pompey have even signed the Croatian yet!

Although sky sports have jumped on this bandwagon too, saying 'the Croatian striker is now understood to have travelled to England to undergo a medical.'

Niko Kalinic, pictured above, continues to be strongly linked with Pompey - some reports say he is in the country now tying up a move, others say that red tape could scupper this?

Either way Dado Prso, the former Hajduk Split, Rangers and Croatian striker, has told Sportske novosti that the Kalinic would do well in English football: 'for Nikola, England is the right country.'

Although the former Croatian international feels that a league like Spain could be better for Kalinic next season? Yet he still went on to mention Pompey but feels we would have to 'take it easy with him' but he would take the premier league by storm: 'now everything is on Kalinic. He will get his chance to prove himself, but he is still young so he will probably need some time to settle into English football.

'But he has a lot of time and also in Portsmouth they will need to take it easy with him.

'I am sure that sooner or later he well show everybody that he can play in the Premier League.'

Do I think Kalinic will sign?

Honestly, hand on heart I have not got a clue - a lot of signs are pointing towards this being a yes, but until he is pictured on The Pompey Site holding up a Pompey shirt it is not a done deal, only then does it become real and can we then start thinking, 'I wonder what he will offer.'

You would think that Prso 'should' be a good judge on how good Kalinic could be though...

disagree with the former but think he may find the latter to be true... why move for £17m to be an obvious back up?

I have had rumours that there's problems with the signing, I hope we do get him though, he looks a good prospect.

Dave is right the deal has said to have fell through because Peter Storrie & his agent could not agree his fee (the agent's that is) shame as he sounded promising.

it looks like its off to me , but having said that i still haven't seen an official statement that Finnan has signed either. I fear the worse as he looked to be something special...mind you so did Collins Mbsuma...my brain is now joining my fears and with my intellect and swishing them all around in the bone bucket that is my head....and what is coming out is ...He has signed already but the Work Permit formalities are being dealt with and the club will announce a 3 or 4 piece signing including Zaki and Finnan and Dabo/AN other thursday or Friday

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
