Pompey accept Spurs bid for Crouch?

Underhanded, Jamie's Dad? Surely not, that is not 'his style'...

He had already this week been 'whinging' about wanting to sign him, but did not have the money to take Peter Crouch to Spurs so he would not pay what was asked, £12m.

It would seem that his 'mind games' have worked once again, as the BBC is now reporting, as the Sunday papers had, that Pompey have accepted an offer from Spurs for the England striker, some £2m short of what Sunderland would have paid at £10m.

Whilst we must bare in mind that these thoughts came from our 'old friend' Alan Nixon at The Sunday People, the 'claims' today are that the former Pompey manager was going to wait until the final week of the transfer window to 'lure' Crouch back to Spurs, as by doing this he is 'alledged' to see this as 'having Pompey over a barrel' and could then get him at a 'knock-down' price?

'If' today's rumours are true, that a £10m offer has been accepted, then in the space of a few days his 'shameless' public speaking once again has knocked £2m off the price we should have got, so imagine how much could have been knocked off had we waited until the final week of August before letting him go - the guy has no shame, morals or respect for anyone but himself!

In another twist, from Nixon, it is also 'said' that he is risking our wrath even more by again attempting to take David James to Spurs as well! Front, udders, cows - just come of the words spring to mind, but the thing is you would not put any of it passed him.

So, it appears that Crouch is going back to Spurs, with it 'said' this is something he has made clear to Pompey he wants.

Sod the pair of them - not the Pompey no.1, to make that clear - in fact anyone that does not want to play for the shirt - this is what we need this season, and this is what we will end up with and find out who does. Time to separate the men from the boys and get the club back to a sound footing that we badly came off. It seems 'horrible' seeing this team dismantled, but give me players that play for the shirt, the club and the fans any day of the week - oh, and at an affordable cost. We are sorting out the infrastructure of the club, it might not look pretty, but in the long-term future it will pay off.

The relationship between Pompey, Jamie's Dad and Spurs is 'fragile' to say the least, should the latest 'turn(s) of events' unfold as reported then this will be stretched yet further...

12m offered by Sunderland yet we accept 10m from Tottenham? I can't do the maths? Can somebody please explain this deal to me? I think peter Storrie is cuddling up to his old mate Harry again? Backhander?

Hmmmm, so rumours that had Jermaine Defoe tapping crouch up when on international duty possibly set the scene? Crouch valued at 12M. Sunderland Bid is accepted. Crouch happy to talk to them, Harry says I want you and crouch's wage demands jump to 90k. Coincidence? You decide. Harry says too expensive. Suddenly although we still seemingly have interest from Fulham we accept his 10M. Reportedly a million less than we paid for him despite his securing a regular England slot Anyone who was into speculation would have to ask whether this is equivocable to tapping up, and whether Crouch's wage demands were a way of scuppering the deal in oder to go to spurs after all? Will be interesting to see what wage he claims at spurs. God forbid that we let Jamo go too, in fact if we decided we had to let james go, I would let him go to any club that isnt spurs for less than he would go to them.

HR in a very recent interview stated Crouch was overpriced!!! 10m is giving him away. Pathetic stance by the club, not that we would have seen the money as it is clearing the debt!!!

So much for Sacha sayng he would only sell to someone who could take the club forward! I know we need to wait and see once the full takeover has had time to settle in, but........... I have never been one to get excited over big money, and to be honest would not want to start lavishing 30 mill here, and 25 mill there to buy players and play that pretentious game, however I do expect to be able to maintain some semblance of a competitive team. We are trialling players who quite frankly woud struggle in league 1 (oopss sorry, Bopp alreadys is!) We are selling our squad. Crouch now going to the Voldamort of football. Suggestion that Disitin is still on his way, and courting the idea of allowing Belhadj to go to Hull too? It really is going to be 'bring your boots and a replica shirt day' at Fratton Park soon. I really do not mind having a weaker team, but surely we have to at least be able to make a fight of it - at this stage we are looking good to break Derby's record for least points scored in a premiership season (11)

Crouch wanted to go .. NOW DO YOU ALL BELIEVE ME !.. Go play for Saggy face and good riddance.. As much loyality as a unloyal thing in an unloyal factory.. But ..the money will help pay Sasha off and when he goes (from the board) the other investors will come in.. Sorry fellas but the writing has been on the wall on this one for about a month... Surely I wasn't the only one who saw it coming.. I did tell ya all

Well..Well...surprise surprise NOT! I had a suspicion the PS/HR line was hot but this is melting. Although I'm "trying" to adopt a wait and see attitude I'm starting to get more than a little agitated over these sell-offs.....http://www.portsmouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/photos/get-photo.asp?photoid=421

even now, im not 100% convinced that crouchy is the one that wanted out - but he was going whatever and if he wants to join up with jamie's dad again, let him - he will be used like ever other player is used by him until he eventually cannot take the pressure anymore and leaves, is sacked or walks out when the money dries up - and spurs' money will dry up, depite what some might tell us about 'endless funds'...
if crouchy and distin going, as weak as it will make us as a team, means that we can get onto an even footing again and finally mean Dr SAF can 100% complete gis takeover, as tough as august - january will be, after this things will pick up as Dr SAF's people will then come in with the current board swept aside for this new era!

Jamie's dad said that crouchy is overpriced because he's 27 and you couldn't get your money back on him. Well to me it seems like he was already planning on sellin him on before he's bought. Why wouldn't he be finishing his career there? Complete W**ker!!!

I don't see the point in turning against a guy that obviously worked his socks off for us last season. You can call it breaking a wage structure but we just can't afford the guy anymore. I would have much rather he'd gone to Fulham or back to Liverpool but if it's Spurs, so be it. 10million is a bargain, though, and this should be fully explained by PFC

I am disappointed he's going, but I've had a few weeks to come to terms the idea. Unfortunately spuds seem to be turning into 'lets see what you could have won' if Jamie's dad, defoe and crouch had stayed . . But we couldn't afford it and couldn't carry on not affording it.

I feel an "investigation" in the future coming on........ The sooner Storrie buggers off the better as far as I am concerned. Hopefully, Saffy will get his feet under the table and his own men on board and then say goodbye to the other half of floppychops.

Its not losing crouch so much as the cut price deal, and the need to have a squad. Noone who has watched our pre season to date is gonna convince me that the trialists are up to it!

its a 17% reduction as well ... that is taking the urine as steve c so eloquently put it ... jamies dad is an a-hole. let him have who he wants then he can "bug her off"!!

(D)uck him. I might be paranoid but it's almost as if he's pinching all our best players so he has the option of coming back again and playing the role of "messiah" when we've either been relegated or close to it. Spend as much as you can 'Arry, but you'll never be an "elite" manager, and you'll never be coming back here.

Harry Redknapp will be the reason you get relegated this season, over spent as your manager building you up, then leaves and comes back and taps up your star forward for below market value.
