Hart on Distin, Kalinic and money

Hart on Distin, Kalinic and money

Paul Hart did not really give much away but confirmed to sky sports news that we are in talks with Sylvain Distin over a new contract - as well as confirming we are in talks with Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic.

You can view these thoughts in this sky sports video...

He is also said to have spelled out that we are not going to be spending big money, as most have expected - so it is a 'myth' that we will: 'there won't be any big money - I have been trying to make that clear for the last two weeks, there won't be that big money, it's a myth.'

Although, and as we at Vital Pompey have been saying for week and weeks - prior to the deal 'just about' being done, the time when money 'could' be spent is January. We expect more developments behind the scenes during August and January: 'only time will tell if such money will be spent in the January transfer window. But certainly not in this window.'

So, basically, again as we have been saying on Vital Pompey, and again have been for ages, the likelihood is we really, and we mean really will have to battle through with 'the bare bones' until January and then we take it from there...

That said, without a doubt we do need some new players coming in.

Kalinic, who I am told has a flight 'provisionally booked' for tomorrow, will hopefully be one of them. I would not be at all surprised if this is a loan with the agreement - or at least option - to buy to be honest.

Once again though, Hart stressed that the next 2 weeks will see things happen - but these arrivals will be low profile, in price certainly: 'yeah, but we've always realised that - we've got our targets and we have been very patient and we are pushing forwards, so in the next two weeks or so there will be new faces I'm sure.'

Keep the faith, remember, it is going to be a real tough season, certainly in the opening half of it - but our support can help drive us on! Do not give up, or throw in the towel, that is not the Pompey way is it!

In a way I feel happier in this position..it feels more Pompey, and nothing annoys me more that pretentiousness, especially in my real love of Music. Now i feel we are mixing it with Hull and Bolton and Blackburn our own ilk. not trying to be Spurs or Arsenal. I am Glad HR has gone and his greedy ...whatever, etc etc. PH will do fine- Thanks HR for the Cup..but we now need to cut the proverbial cloth...

Backs to the wall stuff you mean graham. And yes it was Jamie's dad's greed that has put us in the situation we are in. So no more brown envelopes just eleven players in blue who WANT to play for Pompey!!

Well I wanted to know what the strategy was and I don't think HArt could have been more clearer this time around. So no big signings them .. well that is what we expected .. all I hope for now is that EVERY Pompey fan gets this message, and like it not gets behind the team .. as Dave said 11 players who WANT to play for POmpey giving it their all will suit me fine

Yes he's going to put them in financial trouble, just like he did with us, hopefully just as our fortunes start to improve! Here's to a tough season!

as said elsewhere...kalinic is replacing crouchy, right? plus, and as much as i do like crouchy, the croatian is mobile, has pace and 'could' do the lone striker role with success... goals are what we need and 'if' he can get them that will do me!
times will be hard, people will think we are a 'sitting duck' but if we battled through until january then things will pick up!

We know Danny you want to stay!

In case we had forgot Hollands has reminded us of his desire to stay with Pompey! I'm not 'desperate' either way in many ways but sorting this quickly would be best for all concerned.

Three more pre-season games announced

'Glamour ties' are loved but pre-season is about fitness and form so it doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Bognor... Then again a trip to the Nou Camp wouldn't be turned down!

Sheffield United loanee open to Pompey return

McNulty would welcome a permanent transfer to Pompey. Although the Sheffield United striker could well be part of new manager Wilder's plans, so the chances seem 50:50 at best?
