Talks planned with striker?
There are no quotes, albeit from the player, agents or whatever, but sky sports is reporting that Croatian international Nikola Kalinic will 'hold talks' with Pompey on Friday about a move to Fratton?
Apparently the guy is a 'sought after commodity' throughout Europe?
The 21-year-old has been 'linked' with Real Zaragoza, Bologna and Porto but the Hajduk Split striker is 'now poised for discussions with Premier League club Portsmouth over a proposed switch.'
I know YouTube can be 'suspect' to say the least, but this is a video that I did find and from this the guy definitely knows where the goal is...
Time will tell on this one, like I say without any quotes at all, this seems a strange one - that said sky sports are 'usually' pretty accurate with what they come out with...

The defending was pretty woeful at times, showed some good pace which is crucial, always strikes his penalties well into the right hand corner, bit of a risk - wouldn't want to pay more than 2.5 mill.

Hes good 21 so he is young...its a risk but with a reward there too maybe.

Seems to be very good and probs could link up very well with Niko. Hope Pompey buy him.

He looks good to me. He has pace and an eye for goal. Also, he seems to be an opportunist! But I doubt Croatian football defensively. The team in Yellow, are Maltese, they are very fragile at the back! But he can develop as he seems to have a good base.

Not sure it would need to wait on the Crouch departure necessarily because I think the Crouch money goes to Sacha but any new transfers are paid for by SAF. But who knows!

The defending and goal keeping was quite suspect....but at the end of the day he knows where the goal is... and even in the premiership if you get enough on target you'll score goals. I like the look of him, well worth bringing in I think.

Looks a good prospect with two good feet and heading ability. At only 21 has a lot to learn and need to get a lot stronger. Would obviously benefit from being around the Croatian hero that is Niko Kranjcar.

Nice to see that we are getting linked to players rather than just finance talk about the club all the time. His pace looks good and alongside Utaka I think we could have a dangerous fast pairing upfront!

He looks a proper fox in the box, something we've been missing for a while now. Looks like he can finish well with both feet and has a bit of pace, could well be a very good investment.

the REAL question is ... is he better than our current forward options and who could he play up front with? ... dunno!

The third goal in this game against Dinamo was fantastic that was also his last game. blueexile that video Nikola Kalinic - bad sides was put when he had trouble with the fans because he wanted to leave. Valencia, Chelsea.... where all interested in him but Hajduk refused to sell him. Valencia's offer 10 months ago was even better i think around 8-9 million euros but Hajduk rejected the offer and now Kalinic has only 1 year remaining on his contract and Hajduk said you better sign new contract or you will sit on bench. :) He declined the offer and now hopefully Hajduk will agree to sell him for less money to Pompey. BTW there are reports that Niko called Kalinic's agent and told him that Portsmouth delegation will come today and Hajduk also confirmed that talks are ongoing.

Always difficult to tell from a you tube vid as they only show the highlights never the lowlights. I know nothing about the guy but with Niko being something of a national hero it may well be the weight that tips the balance in our favour.

Watched the bad sides video now it just comfirms Pompeyritams view he'a a bit like Defoe. Defoe missed more chances than he scored but still scored a lot of goals.

Kranjcar19, that's a couple of good goals in that Dinamo clip. Both feet. yep that one at 5.44 is a bit special.He might not be the finished article but he's definately got something about him. Will he get a work permit having only played 2-3 times for Croatia??

This seems to be one of those rumours that won't go away, so there may be some truth in it. whatever the quality of opposition, he still likes like a natural goal poacher, it would be good to sign him up if we can. Does he play for the national side?
