Maradona - the hand of god...

...offering the hand of friendship to Pompey?

Surely not!

Silly season has 'gone into over drive', right?

What with it being claimed that Diego Maradona is 'willing to quit as Argentina manager' to become a 'global ambassador' for Pompey...

Well, these are the latest claims from Arabianbusiness.com - EXCLUSIVE: Diego Maradona wants Portsmouth job, lawyer claims - click here.

They say that his lawyer has said he would be willing to do just this...

So, it is claimed that 'emails seen by Arabian Business' from Maradona's lawyer, Angel Oscar Moyano, say 'Maradona wants to help build a strong team "for which he offers his mediation for signing players of top level who with the support of Diego Armando Maradona, will be ready to come to Portsmouth FC."

'He's got all top players ready and even he's ready to leave Argentine National team.'

Dr SAF's people have 'refused to comment' on this...

Hmm, to be fair Arabianbusness.com has been pretty accurate with what they have said but I cannot see what the appeal would be to Maradona, put it this way, why would he risk the wrath of the Argentinean people by walking out on the national side?

Granted things are not going 'very well' for them, but it is not going to happen, is it?

Then again if they know each other and he could do something to work with Pompey and carry on working with Argentina then it is possible, right? As crazy as it sounds, like it or not, this is Pompey we are talking about - you should know that we should never know what to expect!

Interesting to put it mildly, One thing is, it would take the pressure off of Hart to try and charm players in and get on with the job in hand, also I noted today is the point that the club want Brian Kidd to stay as well, if all happens great, but Hart is manager now, like it or lump it, lets get behind him

Mad, the world has gone mad. Send the muppets from the media into more anti-pompey overdrive. More chance of having Madonna playing for us than this bizarre argy being here!!!

Given that this story was given to the press by "ANGEL" Oscar Moyano, who are we to doubt the word from the heavens?

Arabian Business dot com have been pretty accurate with the majority of their reporting so it wouldn't surprise me to see him become our Global Ambasador. Interesting times at Portsmouth to say the least.

I especially like the point where he claims to have four international players ready to come to Pompey. Does this mean that they play for their country or that they are just from outside Europe?

I would like this to be true, but I just can't see it. Never say never with Pompey though.

On a different point just read on another web site the deal with the Dr is not as clear cut as it would all have seemed yesterday.http://dralfahim.blogspot.com/2009/07/portsmouth-takeover-not-all-it-seems.html. Have a read guys, not sure what to think will ponder, but what do you think?

I wish people would stop reading that blog. It was created in July 2009 to discredit our new Chairman. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was a saints fan trying to dusrupt the good times that will now occur at our beloved portsmouth.

Bowlsey, have to agree. Just read through the posts since early July and there is clearly an axe to grind. Has to be disregarded.

interesting, there is a link between dr alf and maradona with the foundation they are involved in... but im not sure he would quit the argy job unless there was some good money in it for him!

Apparently Pele is going to get his boots back on and play centre forward to replace Crouchy. Paul Hart has been to see Doris Stokes and is getting coaching lessons from Brian Clough!

the only good he would do is attract south american youngsters and players. which is great coz if we end up with the next tevez or messi city will take them off us for 80million and thats job done for the doctor.

Do i need to explain my theory again about a showcase club....probably not, but this would fit with the theory, attracting young South American starlettes, African too no doubt. I like Paul Hart and agree with Uncle Peter, he has had flack but did the job he was asked to do..i do not think he is a Mug, but he is certainly not "Show Biz" as one of friends on this site put it..But MARADONA....now there is a pure show biz name.- but he is a *****

Don't think any England fans have liked Maradona since the Hand of God incident, and since then he's been known for cocaine use and is grossly overweight. But then if he can bring in some exciting players and raise the worldwide profile of the club . . .

Double standards people - Why is it Maradonna is ok to come to Pompey but Joey Barton is a big no-no. Personally I wouldn't want either to be association with Pompey but FFS Maradonna is the biggest cheating coke head the world has ever seen - but that is ok if he spots a few players for us is it !

hey guys - what do you think of the rumours linking us to viduka? yes we are likely to get linked with every available player but were lacking strikers and he could do a job if we got a nippy striker next to him! Not sure what wages he would command - and maybe he could be used to tempt other geordie players to come to pompey!

Who wouldnt want Maradona as our ambasador ? Think of the links he's got in his own country. Now dont get me wrong although hes had a bit of a dodgy pass, but then think of Gazza ? yet we still think of him as a English hero. Tony Adams - Alcoholic and we welcomed him as our manager. The point is it doesnt matter about his past. It doesnt matter about his weight. If he comes in and attracts young Argentine talent, of which there is alot, and potentially attracts World class Argentine players then whats the problem. Think of Aguero Atletico nicked him from Indipendiente and he's been a storm. Wanted by the biggest clubs in the world now. Whos to say Maradona wont do that for us. So before you attack him think what he could do for us. The links he has and embrace the amazing things he could POTENTIALLY do.
