Hart confirmed as Pompey's manager

The Pompey Site has confirmed that Paul Hart has signed a 2-year contact as the clubs new manager.

Dr SAF says that he selected him as he 'commands' respect and 'knows the club inside out': 'Paul did a great job keeping the team in the Premier League last season and having previously worked as director of youth operations he knows the club inside out.

'He has immense experience and a great knowledge of the game and commands the respect of the players. I'm looking forward to working with him.'

Hart himself said it was 'an honour' to be given the job: 'Portsmouth are a fantastic club and it's a great honour for me to be manager.

'The players responded brilliantly to the challenge when I was handed the role last season and I'm looking forward to continuing that relationship as we prepare for our seventh straight season in the Premier League.'

So, it is now confirmed we know who our next manager will be - this might not be liked, but lets back him and give the guy a chance to show what he can do with 'his' team.

I'm dreading the reception he will get tonight. We just have to accept it. If we don't do this year then suspect the Doctor will reconsider things next May. It wasn't really a time for him to experiment or add his own style when he took over last season. Lets see what he can do now. I'm still concerned, but accepting for now and intruiged with regards to the new season. As much as I adore H&W, lets start with a Pomp romp.

I'm disappointed, but thats probably down to the others we were linked to, Bilic, Mancini, Sven etc who are much more box office and like many of us i'm a sucker for a big name. Anyway, if this is the decision then fair enough, if he's manager i'll back him, he deserves a chance for keeping us up. "Paul Hart's Blue and White Army!"

Why's that Gino? He was given the difficult job of keeping us up last season and achieved it, would be kind of hard on him to kick him out for doing what he was asked to do. The players rate him and he has the full support of the dressing room thats got to count for something. HR and TA never had the full support of the players. With HR if you were out you were never going to be in. Last season has gone and starting on a level playing field we will see a different approach from Paul Hart.

This has ruined what should of been a perfect day for me. The Doc really listened to the fans.

On this day in history...30th May

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 30th May.

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!
