Hart stays as manager?

Hart stays as manager?

Arabianbusiness.com claimed an 'exclusive' on Tuesday morning that the takeover of Pompey by Dr SAF had been completed, with an announcement to be made at 10am UK time - although this was later changed to later on Tuesday, which to be far was the case as 11am is not far off :-)

They followed that up with another 'exclusive', that Paul Hart would remain in charge... EXCLUSIVE: Hart to stay as Portsmouth boss, confirms chairman.

Whilst I have before, and will again openly admit, that Hart would not be my choice of managers, should this prove the case then I will of course back him.

I do worry that if it goes belly up we would then lose his ability with the youth side of things - which we will anyway as he cannot do both, to a level required anyway - and I maintain my believe that this is his best area of expertise.

That said if anyone knows what the kids are capable of doing, then surely it is him?

You would then hope that he would have the balls to use the old 'if they are good enough they are old enough' approach.

I would imagine, should he be confirmed, that this means beyond a doubt that Matty Ritchie will get his chance as we know he rates him, he did travel with the 1st team squad for the Wigan game last season.

So, I guess, well not officially until the Pompey Site says so, it is now 'Paul Hart's blue and white army!'

We must wait until we have official confirmation of this, but assuming it is true lets give the guy a chance, lets see what he really can do with his own side and see if he can do something more 'offensive' than the negative stuff he showed last season - if you start with a defensive attitude from day one though then you know you are in trouble, so lets hope he is more offensive this time round...

Again though, whoever is the manager, lets just enjoy the fact that the takeover is done, and celebrate this today and particularly tonight at Westleigh Park to show Dr SAF why we are the best fans in the world!

Before anyone knocks Hart, remember that the 'big name' players we used to have, such as Sol & Co. all rated him. I didn't hear anyone speak badly of him. He has some continuity at the club and let's be real, this season will be tough, so who better to keep us up. "Paul Hart's Blue n' White Army"!

Well said Tim, Paul Hart got the players fighting for their lives last season and it looks at the moment like we will need the same spirit this year. In all honesty this season will be about staying in the premier league and building from there, he's proved he can do that job. With a bit of luck and some signings hopefully we won't need to play the survival football of last season but if thats what it takes to set us up for the future so be it.

Ummm, not quite ideal. We will need to replace many of the players that have gone, going & can't see that Hart has the pulling power!

I think a lot of the support from the players was for the team of Hart and Kidd. Interesting there is no mention of Brian being in the frame. Just hope that if Hart is in charge he will give Basinas the run out over Muggins and attempt to put a bit of class back into our midfield. Just hope Pompey now sue the ass of the sun for the slander against our great club, bas**rds.

The start of a new Pompey, no big name Manager, no big name Players and no stupid living beyond our means...I welcome that..come on Mr Hart!

I'm with you bluedr, we need to build up this great club. Starting with the training facility, youth academy and the stadium. I have no doubt we'll get a couple of 'ok/good' signings that will see us remain in the premiership. We can then build on from there and become a top half premier league club. But we first need stability and infrastructure!

Interesting that the OS statement didn't mention that he was staying as manager.. Agree with Bluedr & Bowlsey.. on everything apart from Hart... Don't rate him... too defensive minded I want exciting football .. not a all cost .. but exciting football... He had the opportunites to do it last season and didn't why do you think it'll be different... It'll be safety first all the way.. Id we don't conced we can not lose ...

i didn't mention i liked Hart being the manager ;) Just that we need stability before we can move on. I can't think of any manager that will provide us with that stability. I think he may be put in temporary charge again, until next season. When we have our house in order we'll be in a better position to get a new manager and attract the kind of players we want to see at Fratton Park.

Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.
