New signing? That is what he will be like!

New signing? That is what he will be like!

Angelos Basinas, remember him?

Well he, or more to the point his agent Paul Koutsoliakos, has today been speaking to The News about the Greek international and how he wants to prove that he is not 'a flop'.

Yep, the guy is 34-year-old and in all honesty probably did sign for Pompey a few years too late but I must say that like his agent I thought that in the 'first three games, he played fantastic', although maybe fantastic is pushing it, but he was certainly a different level, and quality, to what we had and what we used after!

Does he deserve a chance?

Well, if his attitude is anything like the one his agent if portraying, which is one of him working hard, wanting to be successful with Pompey and wanting to stay, then that is good enough for me - someone with 100 caps that wants to pull on the blue shirt, 'passed it or not', sits fine with me!

Basinas will be like a new signing, and maybe, depending on who gets the job, he will get this chance - as things stand now he would certainly be ahead of others we have, as he should have been for me last season.

Lets give him a chance, what have we got to lose...

I'd like to see him given a reasonable run.

I can't see him getting a game if Hart gets the job. It'll be Hughes and Mullins all the way. On a side note, Gekas has scored 7 goals in 4 games since he left us, we might have missed a trick there. round of applause for P.H....

He's not had a chance has he? I think he'll do well given a long run in the side. Mind you with hardly any players Paul Hart will have no choice. I bet he's regretting losing Gekas now.

I'm certainly all for this. Think Paul Hart didn't give the Greece boys a real chance (and particulary Gekas - unforgivable really - how can 20,00 fans see his potential but not him???). Basinas is a great passer of the ball, which he has shown when he's played, and I think that despite his advancing years he could be a great little holding midfielder for us to build our attacks on.

with davis gone this should be a no brainer ... in fact it should have been a no brainer last season too ... absolute mind ****s over at pompey HQ ... lets sort it out please! gekas was NEVER given a chance ... yes he refused to play reserve matches but who gives a cahoot, a strikers one and only job is to score and to give him nay 15 seconds to prove that is utterly ridiculous ... which brings me to the subject some of you have spoken about ... is PH the right man for the job .... NO! pessimist out.

He might as well be a new signing for all use we had out of him last season. Agree totally with Gino's comment. Both Basinas and Gekas should have been given a good run out, it's not as if we're loaded with quality in their respective positions is it. Maybe that's why Basinas is blowing his trumpet now, because he knows Harts in charge again.

Anyone kept out of a team by Mullins must be feeling mighty depressed. Get Angelo on the pitch! God, he can't be any worse than Muggins. I KNOW he's better than Muggins.

I thought Basinas played well, the few games he did play for us. He was dependable and looked confident. Bet that confidence has taken a shaking by now tho......

I really hope he gets a chance, I'd like to have a proper look at what he can do - the nod over Mullins any day, for me.
