7-up for the kids

The Pompey Site has today confirmed that we have tied down 7 new 16-year-olds to 2-year scholarships with our academy - the kids in the image above.

Lewis Tallack, a defender from Waterloovile.
Florent Cuvelier, a midfielder from Belgium
Lewis Stockford, a midfielder from Southsea.
Yann Nsaku, a defender from France.
Dan Bennett, a defender from Plymouth.
Carl Walshe, a striker from Ireland.
James Seeley, a defender from Bristol.

Are the names that we will be hoping to look out for in the future...

They will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of last years 7 successful graduates, after their own 2-year scholarships.

Paris Cowan-Hall
Marlon Pack
Tommy Smith
Tero Mantyla
Tom Kilbey
Jordan Hughes
Ryan Gazet du Chattelier

The above have now all signed professional contracts for the next year, at least - that boosts our squad to 22 professionals, right :-)

In all seriousness I would not mind a couple of these guys to be involved with the 1st team squad this season, and not as they need to be, although most - if not all - going out on loan would not surprise me, if not then the ressies is most likely to be their platform to try and spring from.

Matt Ritchie, Joel Ward and Callum Reynolds all signed professional contracts in 2008, so we are making inroads with producing our own talent - and talent that is good enough.

I know the immediate future is where we are at, and this will soon be clearer, but we also have to look at the long-term and once again I can only say how delighted I am at Pompey doing this more and more!

I hope Paul Hart is there to guide these on their way.

the production line is ticking along nicely - but we need to get Hart back to focusing on that, rather than the first team!

Paris, Cranie, Wilson, Subotic(?), are all players that I would consider possiblilites for the first team. I don't know what it would take to give us another season in the Premiership but I'm quite happy with more Hermans to be honest

Yep they seem to keep coming in.. I just hope some come out the other end soon.. Would like to see a lot of these Cown-Hall, Ward, Ritchie, Wilson, Subotic, Reynolds heavily involved in the pre-season friendlies at least ..

Just as well at the rate things are going these will be in the first team this season.

Paris Cowan-Hall was quite a big name when we signed him from D&R from under the nose of Chelsea, so I hope that he now is able to proove that he is that good at the next level!
