Benjani is the forward we think we'll get

'Benjani is the forward that could well end up at Fratton this season', not my vote, yours - although these findings from JASON R's poll are thoughts that I think could prove the case to be honest...

I loved Benjani when we last had him, how can you not love him, but like I have said before I am not convinced that Benjani returning to Pompey is the best thing for us? I worry about tarnishing his previous spell, but who knows?

To be honest I would not be in the least bit surprised if he did return to Fratton, I do have my reservations about this though - maybe if he did his work rate and commitment could be infectious to others...

  • What the poll asked - Which forward could well end up at the Park this season?

  • How you voted - Benjani 49%, Other 20%, Darren Bent 11%, Berg (Swedish u21) 8%, Oba Martins 7%, Shevchenko 3%, Kenwyne Jones 2%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

To be honest not the most prolific striker we could have but is loved by the fans and would give 100%. I'd also like to see us make a bid for Martins of Newcastle.

Nice guy, but I gotta say that you could do better. I watched him Saturday evening in Germany, and was not at all impressed by anything he did. That being said, he is obviously surplus to our requirements, so if you do end up getting him, I wish him all the best.

NO.....please no..we are going to struggle really hard this season to get a sniff at goal and we need someone with a sharp finishing rate. get a kid on loan, or give a kid a chance from our ranks who can shoot on target.
    plymouth graham
Plymouth, I agree not a sharp shooter but as it becomes ever more likely that we are in for free or cheap players then he's an option.

I'm in the 'no' camp too I'm affraid. I think the guy is a legend (small 'l') in Pompey terms but to bring him back and expect big things is almost asking too much 'should' he return then it surely can't be as out key striker.. maybe play him in behind a front man where hs workrate will be more effective .. Sadly I can't see him and Crouch in those roles though.. so either he won't come or Crouchy will go.. I don't think the two of them could form a lethal partnership

A great guy who gave us fond memories but you can't go back in life. Gudjohnsen would be my pick.

Would love him back but this could harm hs legend status. He is too injury prone now a days but i agree with BLUEDR and TORONTO.Gudjohnson would be great if crouch went he is a similar type but is older and dont score many goals.Martins would be immense he scores goals has speed and thats what we need someone who could finish something off.

Not my choice. Happily have fond memories that are in the past & leave them there.
