M'Bami 'offered' a contract

It is being 'claimed' that Pompey have offered free agent Modeste M'Bami a contract at Fratton - as always 'who' is actually 'said' to be offering these deals is anybodies guess...

To be honest I do not know anything about the guy apart from what 'reports', which have grown over the past couple of days, tell us...he is 26-years-old, a midfielder from the Cameroon and a free agent after being released by Marseille - who it is said he hardly featured for last season. Oh, and Blackburn are another side 'said' to be after him.

How true is this? Who knows!

What I do know is I wish the media would stop claiming so and so is a replacement for Lassana Diarra, as we sure as hell are not going to get a replacement with the quality of the Frenchman unless we pay big money - and a player on a free is not going to be in his league is he? If he was then Marseille would not have let him go, and you can be assured others, besides us, would be sniffing around!

If we even are sniffing around him...

Yeah a lot of 'reports' around and Wiki has even been updated !! Still I'll believe it when I see something official.. If true though he aint a bad player .. I looked into him in January when we were first linked and if we wanted a 'playmaker' we could do a lot worse.. but the proof of the pudding..

As always rug another good piece. I havent heard of him before apart from this weeks apparent interest.True if he was any good why did he not play much for them last season, also why availiable on a free?I am always wary on signing more african players because of the confederations cup every couple of years. They have some truly wonderful talents but too many means a big loss at a vital time of the season. On a slightly different subject what happened to Steven Appiah? I know he was training with the yids but what happened ,did he get a contract or move on somewhere else?

I wonder who is sanctioning these signings, I suppose as they are freebies its all low risk

so were are taking a player that basically couldnt get into marseille? lovely, a similar situation to alot of our recent signings, mullins, mokeona, gekas, pele, pennant, ill expect very little in return for this signin and hopefully he'll prove me, and marseille wrong. This does smack of no takeover though, surely, surely he wouldnt be signing if it was happening......surely.

Well to say he did'nt play for marsialle at all last season for whatever reason, he doesnt sound like the sort of player we need to sign. I my opinion i think cambiaso is a reasonable target for us. and i wouldnt mind klas jun huntalar and van da vaart heard madrid wanted to offload them and arjen robben.

This will be a real coup if we get Modeste on a free. I have always thought quite highly of him

Just the player to help you join Newcastle.

A contingency signing perhaps .. just in case the takeover doesn't come off .. or maybe AC Milan are gonna make a move for Mullins and we need cover..

sky ratings say -below average (5) sane result for Kevin Lejeune. Observer dishing up more lazy journo trash-nothing new. F, is the comedian that the press are making him out tobe, still, there is nothing I or any of US fans, can do....as always...at least the red stripes were chirping away at AFCB Yesterday about how rich they are now

We limped over the safety line. We have lost probably our best player in GJ. Have very little quality & are now looking at freebies. Smells very desperate & dangerous.
