Pennant joins Zaragoza

Former Pompey loanee Jermaine Pennant, who we decided not to offer a deal to after his loan spell, has joined Spanish Primera Division outfit Real Zaragoza.

He joins them on a 3-year deal, telling the official Zaragoza site that other offers were rejected so he could join the Spaniards: 'I wanted to come to Spain and I had offers from important teams in Europe but joined Real Zaragoza.

'I really want to get started and do well in the league.'

Hmm, do not get me wrong Zaragoza are a decent side but they are not quite 'the giant' that the 26-year-old was thinking he would join are they?

Good luck to the guy though; maybe he will prove a hit abroad although part of me feels that we will be seeing him back in England sooner, rather than later...

I wanted him to stay at Pompey, well that was until the Wigan game!

He showed the ultimate lack of respect to the fans when he was taken off. He was given a fantastic ovation by the fans, yet he did not even give the smallest of flickers of a 'thank you' towards us, he did not even stick his finger us at us - which would have been something, although in essence this is what he did by his lack of respect to us!

It was that moment when I turned to others I was with and said: 'he can sod off as far as I am concerned after that!' And he has...

To be honest I am also hearing some things about the guy that seem to also make me think that we are better off without him - clearly he must have some talent to have played for Arsenal and Liverpool but I sense that he has a bad attitude, methinks that he thinks he is 'all that' and is a bit of a jumped up so and so!

I don't think he was worth the gamble. He had a few good games, but it wasn't hard to stand out in our team at some points. For someone who could have damaged the team from the inside, I think we're better off without. Also his petulant act at Wigan didn't help.

I did like him, but you're probably right about his attitude - can't remember which home game he was, he'd been told he wasn't playing and we saw him driving around near the player's car park in his ferrari and then just s0d'd off, rather then joining the rest of the team on the bus in. That's got to be an indication of his attitude. But good luck to him anyway.

I was a bit dissapointed in his attitude too but some times he played (for periods) as if his life depended on it .. Still we all knew he wasn't gonna stay whether we wanted to keep him or not but I will say that he has shown balls by going to Spain and trying to prove hinself in La Liga.. most would have settled for a Hull or a Stoke or a Wigan.. but he said he wanted to play in Spain so he is following his ambition.. Good luck to him if for that reason only..

Not missed. He'll have ajolly time topping up his tan. No doubt the slower pace of game will him. A bit miffed he didn't give his all for us. Too pampered at the previous 'big' clubs!!!
