Dr SAF's spokesman on the takeover latest

Ivo Ilic Gabara, the spokesman for Dr SAF, has been speaking to The News again today about the latest on the takeover...

Many 'reports' are saying that due diligence is done, and despite no one confirming or denying this, has said that plans remain to 'the timescale' set: 'we are working in the time frame to be completed in July. We are confident due diligence will be finished earlier in the month than later.

The next obstacle remains 'the fit and proper tests', something that is firmly believed is already taking place - even if it is not being confirmed, but whenever this does 'start' he knows that it is down to the premier league as to how long it will take: 'obviously, once that is completed then there is still the fit-and-proper-person test.

'The length that takes lies in the hands of the Premier League.'

Despite all of this Gabara also moved to eliminate fears that Pompey could be 'left behind' with only 15 1st team players on their books...

He says that targets are being 'identified' by those already at the club: 'we will sit down with the management team when the takeover is completed and discuss what is needed at that stage.

'There are obviously plans to talk about what is needed for the season ahead. We can't move on with those plans until Mr Al Fahim is the owner of Portsmouth Football Club.

'His main priority at this time lies with completing the purchase of the club. But there is a belief that everything remains on course and, once the purchase is complete, he will be able to move on quickly from there.

'We can assure Portsmouth supporters that everything remains on schedule.'

To be honest I do not for one minute believe that we are leaving decisions in the hands of Peter Storrie and Paul Hart, ok maybe Storrie as he does the deals, but for me we have our manager lined up - we have a deal in place and it is they, and his representatives, that are looking at players...

For me most of the areas we need tied up are tied up, albeit only 'in principle', I would say that the thing that we need rubber stamping in my mind is the 'fit and proper', and I am sure this will not be a problem!

Due diligence must be nearly complete by now and it is good to see they have a plan BUT i still think some players may have been signed subject to takeover already. We shall see soon hopefully.

Agreed, everyone is too relaxed for them NOT to have a plan in place. I imagine the meeting yetserday was to sign the deal, pending the Proper Persons test, and although everyone is saying 2 weeks, do not be surprised if this happens between now and Monday. The Quay leaked the due diligence was over Monday, something they were either not meant to do, or asked to do as a way of us getting a glimmer unofficially?? I am expecting announcement after announcement... Pompey Owner confirmed, followed by Pompey unveil Mancini, followed by Pompey sign Player A, Player B, Player C etc etc Could be fun next week PUP

i was in the process of writing exactly what MIDGE has just said above albeit less eloquently, when the whole page seemed to shift to left, once i had closed and reopened he had his tag on screen...so basicly " I agree with Midge"

It is true that everyone seems very relaxed (except me!). Sure it is all agreed now, and just waiting for the boxes to be ticked. And yes, I doubt Hart will have much say in the actual purchases.

Whether it is me being a true optimist or what??? BUT I seriously believe that the DD HAS been completed, the Fit and Proper test IS being scrutinised as we speak. A manager IS in place and that there ARE players ready to be announced BUT won't until the sale has been formally announced - Is the London AGM still happening on Saturday?? Is Dr SAF still due to be attending?? I reckon we will start to here things on Saturday PM - Once this happens, hopefully it will shut all the boo boys up especially the currant bun!!

I have always been the eternal optimist where Pompey are concerned. "It's hard being a fan" quote Chuck Culpepper. However, although Gabara comments are quite positive he has said all this before, on many occasions. The way I see it is either Midge is right or there are some problems that are proving to be slow to sort out. It's like buying a house, you only know it's yours when you get the keys in your hand! I remain positive however, I am still apprehensive at the same time.

Match highlights - Hartlepool 0-2 Pompey

The slim chances of a top 3 finish ended, despite a win at Hartlepool. Wins for Accrington, Oxford and Bristol Rovers meant Pompey cannot finish higher than our current 5th place.
