Fact or column filler?

Fact or column filler?

The Mirror refuses to give up on the Fernando Belluschi to Pompey story...

Weekend reports saw Pompey 'linked' with a big money move for the Argentine midfielder, but later that weekend it was 'said' that a deal was all but done with Porto?

The Mirror today says 'Portsmouth are facing a fight with Portuguese giants Porto for Olympiacos' Argentinian midfielder Fernando Belluschi. Pompey offered £7million for him.'

Is it 'fact' that we are somehow still battling with the Portuguese champions for Belluschi, despite obvious disadvantages, or is this nothing more than a column filler for those few small inches that needed filling?

Rug, that was there on the old site! lol
I dont think we are going to get to know about any transfers until we have a manager in place. I t will be a bitstrange for the players going back to the pre-season training for the first time with so many faces missing! Bit errie.

Not sure we can compete with the sunshine you get in Porto or the European football on offer!

Yes, but you can now buy Superbock in the local Sainsbury's, so what more can Porto offer? Often these things are just setting up deals to see what options are. Apparently clubs do a lot of this sort of feeling about to test their budget and doesn't mean a formal bid, but normally this is based on the list of players the manager puts forward. If the takeover is as close as thought surely there must be some groundwork going on, or else we'll start cold with just 15 players!

Hss anyone given SAF this web address? He says he wants to talk to the fans directly, would be nice for him to read comments from true fans and answer some of these questions. Or is he unable to, as he is not true and proper yet?

that is a great shout Mike, and i will be honest i have tried but with no luck at the moment - i plan to try again when our takeover is done, i reckon we could easily pack out a suite at fratton, or a room elsewhere for Dr SAF with members from vital pompey, dont you?

rug - it's nice to see the "recent articles" thing back... It was getting a little frustrating :-). As for the room... how many active members are there now? or is that secret? and as for the article - I think that is just the mail being a few days behind everyone else.

Duo sign professional Pompey deals

Will Jez Bedford and Theo Widdrington be the future Pompey midfield? We'll certainly hope so, clearly the Blues do too or they wouldn't have signed professional deals at Fratton Park.

Nathan Thompson - A Swindon perspective

Prior to his departure for Wigan, Paul Cook wanted Nathan Thompson at Pompey. Interest was retained by Kenny Jackett, who completed his free transfer signing from Swindon last week.

Main man for Pompey? I wouldn't think so

Harsh? Maybe, but do I really feel ex-Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Oldham forward Main will be in Pompey's 1st team, becoming a key member of Jackett's starting XI? Well, no.
