Dikgacoi claims interest/More Crouch/More Fortune

Dikgacoi claims interest/More Crouch/More Fortune

The latest player 'linked' to Pompey is Kagiso Dikgacoi.

This time there is a difference, it is not the media 'linking' us to the player it is the South African midfielder linking himself to us and Fulham, who tried to sign him last season apparently but were refused a work permit.

Dikgacoi told African based, at least I think it is African based, KickOff.com: 'I have been told of the Portsmouth interest but I also understand that Fulham is still interested in inviting me to train with them again. My manager will give you more information.'

Maybe there is some truth in this, maybe not - only time will tell...

==========

Crouch still on Sunderland radar

Most the weekend reports were 'claiming' that it was Fulham that were most strongly linked with Peter Crouch, although a 'background interest' from Milan is still being retained?

The reports today on the whole are saying that it is Fulham and Sunderland fighting it out for the England man, and The Sunderland Echo says that 'Steve Bruce is looking to make an 'impact' signing this week and has Portsmouth talisman Peter Crouch firmly in his sights.'

Maybe we will sell the big man, I would hope not as I maintain my believe that he still has an important role to play with Pompey and is not overrated, but either way I would hope that we make no decision in the next week or so as if this takeover is going through, and I still maintain my thoughts that this will too - and this week, why rush into any decisions on the future of another 'star' man?

Keeping England internationals in our squad helps raise our profile as a club too!

==========

Fortune mulling over his options...

Marc-Antoine Fortune remains one of several names 'linked' with Pompey, but he does not appear short of options.

Hull and Celtic have been the teams most strongly linked with the striker, but a 'so-called' late interest from Pompey has left him thinking about things with it also said that West Ham are 'very keen' on the 28-year-old.

To be honest I did not see enough of Fortune to come to a conclusion on how good I thought he was, what I would say is he looked fantastic one minute, showing flashes of brilliance, but rubbish the next - some of his misses were unbelievable!

If pushed I think I would say that I would prefer us to look elsewhere, and that is - at this point in time anyway - something that I think we will do.

As always thoughts on all please guys, comment below...

There's all this speculation on who wants Crouchie and how much for, but he is our player for another three years and he has not said he wants to go anywhere. Particularly with the take over deal to be complete this week (hopefully) and then perhaps he will get an exiting new strike partner.

Partly right blarmy, I hope he stays but he hasn't been outrightly comimted to the cause which is partly understandable and his statements werent that wrong it was the timing. He contrasts sharply with Niko who was upfront from the start. But I hope crouchey stays

South Africa must be an absolute goldmine of players for the ikes of us (if they can qualify to play here - that is). My cousin runs an Orphanage in Capetown. When I was there a few years ago, all the little boys were absolutely football crazy - they look upon it as a way of getting away from the truly terrible life they lead, and they are deadly serious about it.

Pompey's deals are all being done on the quiet - all this specualtion is just to fill newspaper inches.

Still can't think of that many (well one actually) South Aficans who have made an impact on the world stage .. or the Premiership come to think of it.. Lucas Radebe springs to mind.... Mark Fish .. weren't they South Aficans ?? - As for Crouchy I am starting to believe that the Sunderland offer is legit, whether it is £14m or not is another issue but he is a high earner and Dr SAF or no Dr SAF balancing the books is still Peter Storries no1 priority.. I'm not saying I want him to go but in the grand scheme of things would it be the worse thing that could happen...

Thank the Lord that it looks like we could at last be getting shot of 14 chances two metre Peter. That then makes it £1 million per missed chance per goal, good return for a man solely responsible for turning us (And every other team he's played for) into a one dimensional boring outfit...ok Paul Hart might have had something to do with that! And I was one who championed his return...Now i've taken the funny pills the Doc gave me and i've seen the error of my ways!

I'd take 14M if offered for Crouchy, Fortune I think is worth a shout although a little like Martins from Newcastle who is another I'd buy at the right price. As for the South African, don't know of him, did he play in the Confed Cup? Peter Lovenkrands is available and worth a shot and I still think we should bid for Chris Brunt from WBA.

i wouldn't sell crouch at all right now, as far as the southafrican guy is concerned, there is a massive difference between "intrest" and actually buying a player, and I still don't rate fortune, despite the constant links to him.

crouch is a top quality striker and with more crosses into the box he could score more than he did this year. if someone bids 20million they can have him. but no less who would we replace him with any sugestions 14million to spend on a target man who would it be.??

I cannot see us move into the market unless DAF finish off the deal, which is about to happen. All players that we were linked too so far have go anywhere but Pompey. Who would go to a club when there is no manager??? We need to settle the owner thing first, and then start talking about reinforcements!
